Hello, is there a right or wrong way to correspond with an ebay seller ? I never bid, never sold, never read the rules and really don't understand anything about it. But I have heard something about rules forbidding contact ? Is this right ?

Please explain if I can get in touch with an ebay seller, if not why ? Thank you.

I think it's OK to contact a seller if you have a question or comment. But if eBay catches you buying/selling behind-the-scenes, I think you can lose your account. They want their cut...

I've done it once or twice anyway, but in a tippy-toe sort of way. Once was a knife that I wanted. The auction was closed and no one had bid. So I suggested that if the seller re-list the item I'd be happy to bid on it. He just sold it to me instead.

I just wondered if I could contact a seller now and then and ask a question about an item they are selling ?

Example: Is that a shadow on those handles or a crack ?

I can never find emails for the sellers, do you need to join to see these ? As I said, I have no experience whatsoever with ebay.

Thank you.

Hi Robbie,
Look under their username on the auction page, should be a link to click on that says "Ask Seller A Question" And it will send the question to the seller but doesn't give them your email or their email address. A long time ago you could access a users email from the site, Think it's a little tough nowadays.
Good to see ya Brother, Hope All Is Well.

Thank you much James, should have thought to call on you first, if there ever was a man in the know about knife stuff.......you would be him.:D

thanks again,

Guys, if there is an item for sale at Ebay you simply click on the little icon in the upper right section of the listing which will assist you in Contacting the Seller. I do this regularly.

And ask for the seller to email you directly instead of through eBay after he/she emails you back. eBay software tracks certain phrases through buyer/seller messages.
