Ebay Embossed Fake - Sportsman

I think those who really know what they're about have spoken. So now I'll have a go! Not intending to blow smoke but people know who you are Bernie. Half of the charm of that particular axe is that it's yours. If it were me buying it, and i wish I could, in this case I'd want you to have sharpened it first. To me that ADDS to the value this time. In most any other case I would vote leave it alone.
I wasn't going to say anything because when opinions differ sometimes it seems folks are just being contrarian. But I didn't join to keep my mouth shut I joined to share ideas. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

I can't say that you are wrong. I'm not offering the truth, just my opinion. I could be wrong, and I'm happy to hear yours.

Thanks for all of your input. I am still thinking about what I want to do. I know I am at the place in life where I need to downsize. Or, as my wife tells me "if you are not going to use it ever again, dont you think you should sell it?" I know I wont be cruising timber or competing in timber sports ever again. Also, I have no children or family to take my tools.

Since SP was kind enough to give me a gold membership, do you think I could start a thread just to discuss how to down size some of my tools? Maybe I could get pictures posted. I would like you guys at least to see some of them.
Thanks,
Bernie

I would love to see some of them. If there’s any way I can help get them posted here just let me know.

It’s yours to sell , but a gift from your grandfather would mean more to me than the money , he gave that to you for a reason , possibly he felt it was something that would always remind you of him , he’s gone , when you look at that axe , it will always bring back those memories of him ! Sell axes that don’t have that same emotional tie to someone who meant a lot to you ! Pass it down to your children with the stories of him so they can learn of you and him and the connection that gave you the love of vintage axes.

Rick, I would usually agree with you but Bernie mentioned in an earlier post that there isn’t anyone to pass the tools on to. Not being a turd, just clarifying.

I bad , I only read his first post about selling and didn’t read his second post about not having any family to leave it to . Still something that has that memory and connection to his grandfather to me is more . My father passed and he gave me his 300 H&H magnum pre 64 just before he passed , its worth a lot , I’ll hang onto it till I’m gone then wife can sell , probably to buy another hay burner, aka horse . And no you are not a turd , everyone is entitled to their own opinion in America!
