eBay Fraud for Beck WSK??

Check out this thread that ended yesterday:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6522753756&rd=1

... and this one that ended a month ago:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6516439374&rd=1

The one that ended yesterday is using the exact same photo and parts of the description from the older one. Also, the seller is a new user and the bidding was kept private, with check or money order as the only method of payment. Those things are usually obvious signs of fraud (I've gotten burned myself before...).

I sure hope I am wrong and the auction winner does not get burned. It will be sad if WSK's now become potential fraud items - although it is sort of a compliment for Dave Beck...

Winning bid: US $2,225.00!!!! Ouch!!

That was the original auction, which was valid.

The one from yesterday ended up for $1460 (still a nice chunk of change!).

I actually sent an email to the previous auction's seller. He is the one with the copyright violation so he is the one that should report the violation. I just hope it's not too late for the winner.

Did ya also notice that the winning bidder of the first knife left positive feedback,

FANTASTIC to do Business with Super Fast. A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Buyer shammrock-green ( 65) Mar-28-05 15:26 6516439374

and that the seller has 100% feedback on 94 transaction, and has been an ebay seller since 2001?

Nevermind just saw the second auction, 0 feedback, new seller. not good.

Damn,I thought I was the only one that noticed that. I have been in contact with the winner of that auction and he says the seller is not replying to his e-mail.

Hello guys and girls,
I am the one who won the ebay auction in question. I haven't heard anything from the seller in a couple of days, he has 0 transactions on Ebay, and it looks like the exact same listing as the one a month ago. Does anyone know the buyer of the first auction or the seller I am dealing with/trying to deal with. I just don't want to take a $1500 hit you know. Any advise would be extremely appreciated.
Thank you,
Michael Hood

No I haven't sent payment, but the only reason is because he didn't respond yet to give me the details. But now after the information about the first auction, I don't know what to do.

My gut feeling is that this is fraud, plain and simple! However, you will most likely get no response from eBay becuase a fraud has not technically taken place yet... What I would advise you to do is to send him an additional email asking him to send you a multitude of additional close up and clear photographs of the knife from several angles. If he continues to ignore your requests, you know he is a phuk'en thief! If he responds promptly and faithfully to the request, then maybe, just MAYBE he is ligit?!!?

I have contacted him NUMEROUS times asking for information, photos, etc..etc...,No response. The only response I received was right after the auction ended and he asked me to use a certain escrow service but it was not Ebay's escrow. I went to the website of the escrow he gave me to check it out and it was posted, "Do NOT use this site, it has been closed as a fraudulent service". Does anyone know what steps I can take thru Ebay to resolve this? I don't want to have a bid out there that looks like I wouldn't pay. I have a 100 straight positive feedback and now it looks like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Not a very comfortable feeling.

The only thing you can do is recount this story with the documentation to eBay's security department to go on record and to alert them. And then move on.

Is it really likely that this confidence man would ever leave feedback on a scam like this?.. I think not. The fact that you were not con~ed out of this large sum of $$$$ is the real blessing here!

I have already ordered one from Mr. Linger, its not ready yet, I haven't received it, but its ordered. Can you give your opinion? It looks like a great knife.
If anyone is familiar with the Linger WSK could you give me your opinion.

By "happy ending" do mean because I didn't send the $1500, or something else?

Sorry. I absolutely mean I'm happy you have your $$ instead of the, shall we say, "dubious" seller.

In event the seller poste negative feedback for you, if he is fraud then eBay has a process for removing the neg. fdbk, you can search in the security center section. Hopefully it is only a minor confusion and the seller comes through, if not then count your blessings you are not out any money!!!
The Linger looks like very faithful and honorable version of original Beck, based on member comments he sounds like great guy, let us know how you like it whenever you get it.................

Michael,

I'm glad you got to see this first hand(instead of me telling you through e-mail).I knew there was something wrong with that guy.I just had a funny feeling about it. I wound up selling my Beck, but I thought the guy that I sold it to was infact the seller(or a partner) selling the knives you won,but it all worked out. It's really ****** how people have to scam on the net to make a few bucks. It really turns people off to doing business on the Net.

Congrats on the Linger,I have one on the way real soon.
