I get no respect.

I'd been watching these 2 Kershaws for a week now.

Last night, there was a multi-colored Boa up. Well, I waited until the last 15 seconds, took my time entering my bid, and went $ 35 higher that the previous bid. hEllbay said blah, blah, blah...You're the high bidder! WRONG! Lost it by 2 bucks.

Tonight, a TI/ZDP Leek was up (same seller btw). Again, waited until the last possible second. hEllbay said, with 9 seconds to go blah, blah, blah...You're the high bidder! WRONG! Lost it by 2 bucks AGAIN!

Got snaked twice, and neither by automated bids! ol, how many hEllbay accounts do you have? Next time I see either one of these again, I'm going $ 300 right up front...if someone wants it that bad, let em pay up for it!

Small consolation, as I do have a 1580MC, but I had hoped to snag this one to give to T-Man...for some reason I don't think they have one in their collection.

If one of the members that hangs here got them, congrats...now HOW DID YOU POST A BID IN UNDER 9 SECONDS?????

I hate hEllbay...I have no TI/ZDP Leek. I get no respect.

we respect you. you just have more knives than me, so i can't put anything up on ebay that you'd be interested in :-)

wasn't me dude. heck, i dont even have a job lol. besides, i only have one account, that i have no idea if it even works anymore.

Yeah, stinkin laptop...I've got to get the "n" router and a new card. I'm at the limits of the "g"...

I use a cable modem with N wireless router and use Auction Sentry to place my first and last bid with 3 seconds left. But, it wasn't me that snaked your knife.
Life is fun with a fast connection.:D

jt, thanks for the info on Auction Sentry. Which version are you using? I've done some reading, and it appears the version released 27FEB2008 has some serious problems. I do run a cable modem, and on my hard-wired computers my speeds are just above T1.

I gave up trying to win Knife auctions on Ebay a long time ago. The last two I won were both Kershaws and I put in my bid by watching my computer clock and waiting at 6 seconds. My Lahar I just did a "buy-it-now" that took a check. Now all the "buy-it-nows" are Paypal only, and I hate paypal.

Sniping is a way of life on Ebay. There are many sniping services available for people to use and bid at the last second.

Just bid the maximum price that you will pay and forget about it. If you win, you win. If not, move on to the next one.

Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose--> I don't spend a lot of time stressing about it.

I am with Daniel. I am bidding on five knives now. I put in a low bid and then a second "highest I will pay bid". If I win then I win. The times I did that last second bidding, I ended up paying more than a cool thinking mind knew the knife was worth. The times I lost to a higher bidder I was actually happy after I realize the knife was not worth that price....

I have won and also lost bids on ebay. I usually put my bid in with only 2 seconds left. Its not hard to do that manually. At that time I enter my max. bid and hope for the best. If someone else has put in a higher max. bid before me I will lose no mater when I confirmed mine. What I get a kick out of is when they pay more then you can buy it for from one of the internet knife stores. Good luck with your future bids.

There's just no accounting for this...sometimes I'm fine and win, and sometimes no matter how close to the end I bid or how high above the current bid, I get sniped. It just happens...:(

I know that's not really any consolation, Brad, but at least you know you're not alone. ;)

(You wouldn't believe how many times I've tried unsuccessfully for a TiZDP Leek...I didn't even know about this one, or the MC Boa...I'm slipping...more accurately, I'm broke...:D)

Ray :)

I tried the Ebay thing and lost interest quickly. I just don't have the time or patience to follow the last seconds of an auction, just to be out bid at the last second.

Also, some of the dealers I use are getting screwed by Paypal/Ebay.

I use the Deluxe Version, just checked the date and mine shows March 3, 2008 as date created. Have not had a problem yet. But I have only used it 1/2 dozen times or so since then, done more of my buying from forum members. I don't know if it makes a difference but I do not have a default browser, back when I had firefox checked as default, Auction Sentry would crash when trying to look at the ebay page. I unchecked both IE and Firefox as having any default browser and have not had any problems since. That was last year under the older version. My son used jbidwatcher or something like that for a while, that is free. There is another service now, that is done online by a server somewhere else, that way your computer does not even have to be on. I have not had time to check it out, but son has used and says it is better and FREE.
Good Luck Bidding,
Jim

Join the club Brad. I've been snaked so many times in the last few seconds
to make ya wanna take someone and let them swim with the fishes. ;)

How much did the Ti Leek go for? It's an awesome knife.
Good luck on getting one. I'll keep an eye out for ya.
Oh, that Ti frame is sweet when you have a CB blade
stuck in it. ;)

SV, the TI/ZDP Leek was snaked at $ 172.49, and the multi-color Boa was stolen for $ 104.49. There was only one little problem with the Boa. The box listed it as serrated, but the blade was PE. Both were unsharpened and new, as I exchanged several emails with the seller, and he was kind enough to provide me with additional pics and info. Ya can't miss the Kershaw factory grind close up.

I won all my bids tonight...only one higher than I wanted to go...they were all old Japan knives from the 1970s...low end stuff that I carried back then....the memories...lol

I feel your pain, happened to me a few times while I was eyeballing a 2040 Stag.

Didnt think those knives were around any longer - Finally won one last week, and the dude even threw in a new Kershaw leather case. (Which I promptly inserted the new knife into while open; just to see how it would fit).
It took a split second to cut the stitch  and now its time to fix it already
