Recently I asked this Ebay seller if he would ship a CRKT M16 Titanium handled version to me in Malaysia but he replied with "
stateside only you freakin terrorists". Short but not sweet.

Fine, stateside only, I get it. Politely told I would understand but this isn't right. I know if a fella does not state 'worldwide' in his/her shipping thingy then most likely he/she does not ship worldwide but most of my knives are bought from fellas who never initially offer international shipping. It's not wrong to ask right?

Anyone with any idea about getting some action against this guy in Ebay?

Some members may feel I'm in the wrong here (as is the diversity of the views in BF) but I appreciate any comment.

PS: I may be too sensitive but I got to get this out of my chest

I can see why you are offended but there is nothing you can really do except insult him back. I often ask about Aussie shipping too...and have been told flatly no several times. Some people are just going to act like that, best to forget about it in my opinion and be glad you didnt end up sending him money before he showed his true colours.

I think you did the right thing
Now everybody can cast their economic vote and not buy from this guy
Not sure if EBAY would do anything
Freedom of Speech type thing??

Thanks, I admire the Freedom of Speech thing you guys have. In my country there is something called the Internal Security Act which I hope I'm not going to get into trouble for even mentioning it here :( Anyway, nuff said about the ISA.

Anyway, I gave forgetting this some thinking (approx 3 to 4 days) and decided that I should not forget and do something. True this a 'small' thing to some but I really really do not like to be called a terrorist. Terrorism is something that honestly prickles me to the bone.

PS: I like your little rambo knife story you wrote once, other than the differing details (type of knife and etc) and writing eloquence it brings back memories. Though my version involved more band-aids and a trip to the Emergency Ward :)

I agree. And, Irezumi, you got a raw deal on that other thread IMHO. I would not hesitate to ship to you in Australia from the USA. You are one of the most solid and reputable members this moderator has seen in a long time. You can hold your head up high and be proud. We know you are the real deal.

Peace,

~B.

No wonder you are offended! Mainly because he was deliberately offensive&ignorant too. Best avoid such characters as they are bound to be dodgy traders too. I'm in the EU but usually find US dealers are happy to ship products (dollar euro exchange rate makes knife buying a dream at the moment). It saves us all a lot of time if a trader just states on-line no international shipping. I did once get a reply from somebody asking what state the EU is in....I think he meant geography not economics:D

Yeah, it could have been worse. Some sellers have been blunt but not rude so far. However as a matter of principle (plus I suck at insult-wars) I would not stoop to his/her level. However his insult ain't no water of this ducks back, it's a barbed arrow!

I hope that non-'stateside' potential ebay buyers will not be similarly insulted by this fella. Avoid at all cost. However looking back I may be more pissed off at losing the chance at bidding for a 30++ bucks relatively new CRKT M16 Ti! Well I'm still young and there are plenty of knives in the sea for this addict.

The guy was rude and should be reported to eBay. This freedom of speech thing is always taken out of content. Our founding fathers never intended that freedom of speech gives you the right to be rude or disruptive. It is intended for law and order and everyone being able to express their views, not to be insulting.

I run an occasional Ebay auction and only ship to the USA. Customs paperwork is a hassle and there is little guarantee that you will ever recieve your package. Even when I post USA only on my auctions I must get at least 2 questions per auction I would ship. No means No.
Its not worth the negative feedback if the package doesn't make it through customs, for me.

If I'm not mistaken, ebay is a privately owned site and freedom of speech does not apply any more than it does on this site.

what does freedom of speech has to do with a-holes?
Keith, I once "met" a guy on the Ebay who wouldn't ship to Canada, even though in "shipping area" said Americas. I asked him to quote me shipping charge to Ontario and I got an answer... Trust me, as a Canadian, you wouldn't like it.

Regrettably, some of my countrymen are jerks. On the whole, freedom is still A Good Thing. I think by posting your experience here, you've informed a good subset of the people who are likely to care about Mr. niles27372 one way or the other. As long as he pays his ebay fees, they aren't likely to care. Having done that, I'd suggest that you now just forget him.

Thanks for the input. However the thing I wanted to stress is that the shipping is not the issue. Fine if you have doubts/worries/concerns regarding shipping internationally so don't. If you say no to me then fine. There is no way I would take your 'no' as something else but that is speaking for me. However the main issue I think is the unnecessarily rude version of the 'no' that this ebay seller gave me.

I like to stress that there is no harm in asking. On matters that differ from the bidding details like the shipping details, type of shipping service, payment options and so on is open to negotiation. In fact, most of my blade collection currently are from sellers which never state 'worldwide' in their bidding.

However this is besides the point. Rejection/disagreement/decline must be done in a civilised manner. Not necessarily sweetly polite but never ever rude. It is not deserved by anyone.

PS: I have been asked to sell some of my items shown in a pic in SelfDefenseForums by an American. If I were rude I would have said South East Asia only you freakin American! What can I say, I suck at insult :)

Could have said Red neck republican....??? Thats a category not to many others fall into...
I dunno

Bit difficult to think of a general insult since USA bit too diverse. I mean there is black, red, yellow, brown, blue(nobly english decendents),pink(paris hilton ypes),orange(surf dudes),and lastly... white.

Anyhoo general broad insults is not how I like to go about with something. This is because I can only insult a person I actually know. By knowing intimate (not necessarily lover type level) details of a person then potential insults will really stick in deep! Like by actually getting to know my worst enemy I can insult him as a crab-ridden drunkard of many failed relationships who chain smoke like a bleedin' choo-choo train and so on and so forth... :D

I won't ship to any state that has a coastline, or a city over 4 million. Can't stand 'em. You can forget shipping to Idaho, too.

;) Seriously, it's ebay, and you gotta expect a few surprises like this if you're going to do business there. Hopefully you get a deal every now and again to make it worthwhile.

Broos, I got many deals that I will always remember in EBay or here in BF. I got started on blades here and so far it has been satisfying. By the way, below is the subsequent interaction between him and I. FYI, labeling as TOOLS is because one dude labeled once as "Tactical Army Knife" which I had to explain to customs till the sun came down. spydieguys (also in EBay) gave me the idea to label it as TOOLS or Camping Tools and today (20++ knives later with no problem) I'm enjoying my little babies. :)

His reply
"I always get the same dam email about shipping to malaysia and to label it as tools. What the hell am I supposed to think?"

My reply
"I do not want to get into insult-wars with you, I suck at insult because I don't do it frequently at it does not satisfy me when I unfortunately do get drawn into it.

In your case it would have been even better not to reply at all. Calling me a freakin terrorist is not right. Made even worse because I do not have some of my close friends anymore because of terrorist shooting and bombs. I AM NOT AND WILL NEVER BE A TERRORIST. TERRORISM SICKENS ME TO THE BONE! Choose words carefully because it is easy to use certain words but the impact is sometimes more severe than the words themselves.

With regards to repeat queries about sending to Malaysia and labeling. Accidental repeated messages are sincerely accidental. You want me to apologize for that then I will. I'M SORRY, I should have checked. But the excitement of a CRKT Titanium got to me. I love blades and thats why even join forums on them. I will not disturb you with such questions again I can assure you.

What the hell you are suppose to do (as you asked, borrowing your way of speaking)? I would say you should treat people with respect and dignity as befitting such a great nation. If you do not respect yourself or others then at least respect your nation. This are not my words, these are the words of my friends in knife forums.

Thank you for taking time to reply me. Wish you all the best."

His reply
"There are very few people I respect.I work in law enforcement and I see the scum of " MY NATION " first hand. I put my life on the line everyday for my nation,so dont you dare tell me I dont respect my country. Grow up"

-end-

Maybe I'm asking for a pummeling. I have apologized to him for saying he does not respect his country but please refrain from rudeness. Nuff said. I think I am overly sensitive :)

PS: Have checked and he HAS quoted a shipping price to Malaysia for his CRKT My tighe which I lost the bidding :) Can't blame me for asking about his next knife right :)

:eek:WOW!I don't blame you for being insulted!I don't think there's much you can do though(freespeech).Posting his ID here was a good thing though. He's already lost a lot of potential customers, because of that statement,I'd assume.I'm putting a "Do not buy from" note in my ebay page, after reading this.
I'm a pretty new seller on ebay & I only sell to the 48 states. That's just because (and only) of all the international laws & customs BS people have to go through with knives. If I sell someone something,I just want to make sure they get it.
