So I have listed my Black Aluminum Handled Microtech Socom Delta S/E on Ebay, and a person sent a question to me and wanted to trade it for a Microtech DOC Satin.

Now the Delta is a cheaper knife than the DOC, which retails for about ~$300. I am selling the knife purely for the cash and am not interested in the other knife, but if I resell the DOC I may get more out of it.

Bottom line, is is worth it?

Do your homework on the matter and use some common sense.
Do you know the person, as in had dealing with them before? If not, I would walk away from that deal as you run the risk of getting burned with no recourse.
Both of the item you mention are decent pieces, but finding out if one is worth more than another is subjective and really depends on the person looking. I know Ebay will take a large bite out of any money you make, by the time Paypal takes its cut, shipping cost, eBay fees paid, you may be out like $40-65.

^^^This... especially since you are a relatively new seller with a handful of sales. Certain types prey on sellers fitting your profile.

Tell him to ship his end of the deal first, as you are the seller with the proven feedback. If he refuses then then there is your answer.

I wouldn't fool with doing a trade through ebay, but if you must at least do the above.

You could still wind up with an empty box if he thinks you may ship once his tracking # has been logged into the USPS system.

Come to think of it, I believe I did do one trade through ebay a very long time ago. I forgot what knife I traded but I do remember that I had it for sale and a gentleman messaged me asking if I would trade it for another knife. (I believe it was a Rat Cutlery RC-4, at the time) Anyways since he had a very long list of positive feedback from satisfied buyers I agreed to do it and we exchanged addresses and everything went smoothly.

Ebay is a random place for trades to happen since you only go there to either buy or sell. But since the knife community is small and most knife knuts are members on knife forums they are already used to trading their knives, so I assume whenever they see a good knife for sale that's why they don't really hesitate to make a trade offer since they assume that the seller is used to trading on forums.
