I know nothing about ebay......my question is this, I have been watching a certain product on ebay for over 2 years.

This product has always shown a listing of 30 sellers (listings), usually no more or no less.......(or real close)........for over two years, you could almost set your watch by these numbers.

Then.........a couple weeks ago, this product jumped from 30 sellers (listings), to 50 sellers or listings, 20 more than has shown for the last 2 years. And it has stayed at 50 for about two weeks now.

Can someone please give me some insite as to exactly what has happened, why would these sellers/dealers/listings jump from 30 after two years to 50 ?

What does this mean, or does it mean anything ?

Thank you for any help.

I think that'd be difficult to evaluate without knowing what kind of product you're talking about.

[You're talking about the SOG Revolver, right? ;)]

Quiet Storm, what ever gave you that idea ? .....:D

(I really thought I could get by with just saying "product")......

I forgot about my Bio...........:o

This is no big deal, I just keep a close watch on certain things all over the world but this one really confused me.

Any ideas ?

I didn't read your bio, I just remembered a recent thread. ;)

If one of my designs was adopted by a major manufacturer you bet that I'd be searching all knife-related forums out there to find out what people think of it and browsing Ebay on a regular basis to find out how popular it is.
To be perfectly honest, I don't think that such an inrease can be attributed to anything but regular market fluctuations. Now if suddenly 100+ listings could be found at the 'bay, I'd say there's more to it than that. Sorry, JMO.

Thank you, you have a good memory......I can't remember what I had for supper yesterday.

The thing that I could not figure was the numbers increase after numbers being steady for over two years. I just was a little surprised for this increase on ebay and wondered why.

Yes I do search often, often I find things that really confuse me.

Thank you for your help.

Robbie Roberson. ;)

Hello Robbie,

I've noticed the same thing on a few knife brands. For these other brands, it was an influx of "ebay store" sellers that post a bunch of items indefinitely. The quantity of true auctions hadn't changed much.

I've noticed that there's been a lot more sellers for New Orleans lately. Maybe people are trying to recoup some of their losses.

eBay changed the way searches display to incude eBay store items. Number of items returned by a search or your watch list jumped in all categories.
