I go to Ebay and do a search for CUSTOM knives. What comes up? A bunch of actual custom knives(that's how it is supposed to work). What also comes up is a whole buttload of factory knives! Benchmades, Bucks, Spydercos, etc... What gives? Don't these sellers know that a Benchmade 690 is not a custom? Or don't they care?

Another rant; am I the only one who feels custom knives being sold by the actual makers on Ebay is borderline cheezy?

On the first part:

Yep, that is really annoying. I can see the point about driving people to your auction, but it's a big PITA to search through 500+ auctions and about 1/2 of them be custom knives. If you add in search descriptions you get ton's more. Ebay does work out welll for searching out older makers, and sometimes you get a deal.

The actual makers selling on Ebay don't bother me, a guy's gotta eat. Who knows, the Ebay maker selling simple utility hunters on Ebay today, could be a star 20 years from now.

What does bother me are the number of kit knives being passed off as custom's.

The same thing happens to me when I do a custom search, not only do the production, knives you mentioned come up but "custom designed" knives happen to appear as well and just about every "custom designed" knife happens to be HSN style material, very disturbing. As far as knife makers selling their wares on Ebay ,I suppose theres nothing wrong with it but it does seem strange. I cant put my finger on why though.
