I just scored a Victorinox Trooper on Ebay.
I've been wanting one of these for a long time now. Looks like I got myself a new woods walking buddy.

Congrats on your new score PW. However, it's said "it is more blessed to give than receive". Therefore, to keep your Karma even you need to give something away. Might I suggest an Mnandi. And to make sure the Mnandi is well cared for you could give it to me. It would make you feel really good (not to mention that it would tickle the snot out of me). Give it some thought. You won't be sorry. ;)

Congrats.

Here's a Victorinox brochure circa early 80's showing the Trooper as part of the "Safari series"

Nice knife, I have the Pathfinder which is similar, but red and without corskscrew and reamer. Simple, inexpensive and lightweight despite being larger than most other SAKs. That multiple use saw/opener/driver blade is quite handy.

I also got one last year, practically mint. Great knife, not too minimalist, not too chunky like a Huntsman, although I miss the t&t.

trane.....nice try, but my karma is doin' just fine. ;)

Vincent...I was hoping you would chime in. I couldn't remember what the series was called.

I've been wanting one of these for a long time. It has everything I need for a woods knife and then some without the added bulk.

Does anyone know if the little screwdriver fits in the corkscrew on these? I'm assuming it's the standard corkscrew, but I've never actually seen one before.

PWork,
The standard screwdriver fits the corkscrew on the Trooper and Stag Hunter models. I fitted mine with screwdrivers after getting the models and they hold fine.
