Hello folks:

I have an A.C. Al Warren knife to sell. It has an elephant ivory overlay on Hawaiian koa handle. Ebay policy will not allow it. Is there a policy here against selling ivory (I know it can't be shipped to NY, NJ and after July 1 to California)?

Regards, Martha

You can only sell here as a gold member or above. I can't see if you are, but if not you may want to change your post. Edit: I see you are not gold member. If you pay for gold level membership, you can sell in the marketplace.

That said, you are only expected to follow the laws here by your own will. The mods here, while often must be playground attendants, are not law enforcement.

Thanks. I paid for Gold membership before posting but apparently it had not gone through yet. All good now.

It went through and you only need to update your user group settings. Follow the link in my signature and select the membership you paid for. Thanks!

As soon as I read up on posting pix (can you tell how green I am at this??) and how payment to my Paypal can be accomplished, I'll put it on the exchange.

Paid members can upload pictures from their computers, but anyone can open a photo hosting account.

1. I use www.photobucket.com

Download your pictures.
Go to your Photobucket album.
Click on the picture you want.
Go to the right and see Links to share this photo
Left click on IMG. It will flash Copied. Paste into your post.

2. Another way: go to http://www.imgur.com and upload your image.

Copy & Paste to your thread.

Sale of ivory in California is banned... period from my understanding.

Ivory or items containing that were imported into the United States prior to 1990 (provided the ivory itself was gathered before 1976) can be legally bought and sold. Note that this generally requires proper documentation.

Sited from the U.S Fish & Wildlife Service

The portions governing sales across state lines are probably the most relevant in this case. They apparently require a person to jump through all kinds of legal hoops to sell this stuff.
