I am looking at a knife or two on Ebay, Spyderco Gayle Bradley, BM 710, etc. Are there any dealers/sellers to stay away from or beware of? Are there a lot of fake Spyderco and BM out there?

Actually a couple of guys on eBay are authorized Benchmade dealers. They operate eBay stores not just auctioning.

Check feedback %, that's the best way to know if you're doing business with a stand up eBay seller.

I don't think there are a lot of fakes, but it is good to be diligent and buy from established vendors with tons of sales and excellent feedback.

I buy from sellers like poor_fish, belote, and yourknifeconnection.

Bottom line is that its wise to stick to sellers with zillions of sales and perfect or close to perfect feedback.

At least thats how I ride.

well its largely a buyer beware but with some protections for buyers and sellers. i always avoid zero feedback sellers as well as sellers with low feedback or recent feedback issues. someone with a 100% rating and 100 or more feedbacks is probubly golden imo. always make shure you know where its coming from and how much shipping is.

as far as weather or not a particular delear should be avoided i dont know of any. ive heard a thing or two about one, but i had good luck with my purchase from that one and im not going to name names.

I'd recommend searching for the name of the seller you're thinking of buying from in the feedback forum here ("The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly", or "GBU" for short ). eBay feedback is useful as a starting point, but it seems to have more utility as negative information than as positive. If someone has a lot of bad feedback, then you should almost certainly avoid them. But the reverse isn't always true: there are some notorious examples of knife sellers on eBay who have very good feedback ratings but have consistently delivered very poor service to BF members (as evidenced by the negative reviews of them in GBU).

poor-fish and knife connection been very good to me ,but I heard some bad stories about "spyder-guys " sorry dont remember exact name but I would stay away from them .

Well, if you see a knife for cheap and the shipping location is China or Hong Kong, you are taking a chance at buying a fake...

Spyder-guys or whatever they are called don't reply to questions on listing but i think they do state this somewhere.I used them a few times and they were fine. They now charge a ridiculous amount for overseas shipping though so i will use them no more.

Ebay doesn't have the best prices. For Spyderco, Cutleryshoppe, poorfish, and yourcornerstore are especially good. For Benchmade, take a look at Knifeworks (Use the discount code they give you). I got one from them new for less than the used ones were going for on ebay.

I say, support your nearest local knife dealer. If you don't have one, use an online dealer with their own site. Sites like ebay are killing the retail market.

I have had real good luck with tim_hardware on EBAY. He is an authorized Benchmade dealer in Mississippi.

I have also had excellent experiences with poor-fish and belote

+1 on these 2 belote ships much slower than poor fish who are the best imo

How'd I miss

he is fair, fast shipper and as mentioned an authorized dealer.

1. I think the MOST important detail is to know your product so you don't waste your money on knockoffs. Insist on good descriptions and quality photos.

2. Feedbacks are very important. Anyone with less than 98% positive I would check the comments from others.

3. Find a vendor and stay with them. Once you have a good place to deal with, even spending a little more for your knife can make a difference.

Personally, I love KnifeWorks, assuming I can name them here in open post.

Looking for a Gayle Bradley, seems that knife works and Ebay have same price, and I have $ in my PAYPAL acct right now.

Any authorized Spyderco dealers on Ebay?

Take that back Knifeowrks accepts PAYPAL......looks like they will get my business.

No local Spydie dealers within 45 minute drive of me, or else I would have gone there.
