The eberlestock spike camp duffel is designed to attach to the just one series of packs. The mil spec plus 85 pack has no internal or external frame or bracing members. all of the load is carried to the body via the fabric/straps. It would be an interesting project to try to modify to house an mil issue molle frame.

The Condor will fit a 17" laptop, correct? How is the padding? Does it protect well? And have you carried a laptop in it or did you use it for something else?

The laptop compartment is 16"x13"x2.5". chances are it would fit a 16" diagonal screen size, 17 would be pushing the sides out a little. The padding is 1/4" on all sides, with more on the back from the padding for use as a backpack and the backpack straps. I've only had experience with 3 laptop carrying bags so I don't know how the padding really stacks up. its' better than the mobile edge messenger bag I had, and the padding is as thick as the maxpedition operator attache. I ended up putting an extra layer of 1/2" closed cell foam in my maxpedition, so I honestly don't trust most of what I've experienced. It will protect a laptop from normal wear and tear, dings and what not - but I wouldn't trust to protect the bag from anything but scratches in a major fall.

I used it solely as a laptop bag.

Sorry about the milspec bag, I hadn't expected anyone to show any interest so I stopped checking the page itself. Having not received any private messages or emails regarding it I didn't realize there was any requests for it.

Both items are sold.
