Looks like that integral "bug" done bit me.
Not sure which photo to post so I'll post them both.
I did like the Davy Crockett idea, but the other one shows the knife better.
A really nice piece of Macassar Ebony graces this 5160 integral made with my through-tang construction. This type of threaded tang and nut construction integrates the entire integral blade with the handle material.
I simply find the appearance and feel of these to have a certain grace that I can't ignore.
Thanks for letting me share!

Looks good sir! I have a special place in my heart for forged integrals
Thanks for sharing.

That is really nice! The blade shape and proportions are just right, and macassar is one of my favorite handle woods.

That Macassar is gorgeous. Very nice piece.

Nice knife Karl. How do you file the integral for a flat surface where the wood fits flush? Always a gripe for me.

You don't.
Try to imagine this:
Forge the blade and then draw out the tang in as round a shape as you can. Diameter is not all that important.
Pay special attention to forging the tang STRAIGHT in line with the blade in all directions.
Drill a hole in a block of wood the same diameter as the tang.
Lock the block of wood in your cut-off saw.
Stick the tang in the hole.
Bring your cut-off blade down to where you want your shoulder to be and sloooooooooowly spin the blade and cut your shoulder.
If you need further explanation, get ahold of me.
I learned this from Ray Kirk, M.S.

Is that the trick you were talking about learning Karl? Man you make is sound so easy, but I it is not. It looks like you got another great one Karl, very nice work.
