Here is one I just finished up a few days ago.

It is 1080 steel with a clay quench revealing a nice hamon.

It is hand rubbed to 1000 grit.

The handle is Gabon Ebony with two steel pins and a handmade mosaic along with a lanyard hole.

The spine is fully file patterned up to the distal taper.

The blade length is 4 1/4 inches tip to handle, and it is 8 3/4 overall.

The sheath is veggie tanned leather dyed a dark brown, nearly black. It has been treated with beeswax to stiffen and waterproof it. It is hand stitched and has two rivots for added security.

Price - $135 shipped

This is a very nice knife, I guarantee your satisfaction. Email me if you need more pics.

Lookin' "sharp" Matt!! hahaha! ok that's terrible sorry for the bad pun. :D That hamon looks great as does the recurve blade. Terrific total package!

Hamon, 1000 grit handrub, and ebony (one of my favorites). This should have me drooling on my keyboard, but something's wrong.

I can't put my finger on what's wrong with the picture, but it somehow just doesn't make your knife look good.

I know that's a good looking knife. I mean, hamon and ebony, it's GOT to be a great knife. But I just can't get excited about what's on my screen there.

So I hope this doesn't across as harsh or anything. I just want to see how good your knife looks!

(Did you see the thread over in Gallery by PhiL, the pro photographer? Great tutorial.)

Good luck!
Mike

No offense taken, I have been screwing with several different light tent setups, and still haven't been able to take pictures like some of the guys on the forums. I can snap a couple more and see if I can better the previous ones.

Either I need more money or you gotta stop making knives

Ask the wife how many of your knives I have to buy to have your next son named after me?

here are a couple more shots, although they are not much better than the originals.

In some I have gotten rid of the hot spots, but the hamon seems to disappear. On others the hamon is visible, but the knife is full of hot spots. I need to spend more time with a camera, but time is limited right now.

Spearz, your in luck! We just found out this week that we have another on the way. She is due on Halloween if the baby decides to be punctual. I'll have to run your name past her, but she already has a boy name picked out.

Middle Name then? ;)

The small knife you made for me is 9 3/4" overall, with top of micarta handle 4 3/4", not sure if this one is too small for me?

Between you and my other favorite knifemakers on BF I don't know how I can afford to eat?

Spearz, the circumference of the handle is probably within your specs, but I am not sure about the handle itself. From the point on the belly behind the ricasso, to the lower point of the base of the handle, is 4 inches. The spine edge of the handle is 4 3/4 inches (following the curve, not in a straight line). It fits my hand well, but I know you like large handles.

Yep, very sharp workmanship there. Even the form fitting sheath nicely complements the above average workmanship evident with the knife. Great job with this one.

Great design. What's nice about a meaty recurve like this is that the cutting action is set below the hand. This makes for more control and leverage. Beautiful knife.

Threephasenorse I'm sure you'll like the knife when you get it. I have several favorite knife makers here on BF

Matt is one of them, IMO he makes a great looking and useable knife and sheath.

Thanks, Spearz... I can see that Matt takes great care in his craftsmanship. This works out well, assuming I get to purchase the knife... I have small hands.

A few years ago, I had Tom Mayo create a TNT for me with a similar recurve configuration... now I can have a folder and a fixed Yay!

- Matt, I will be gone for the rest of the day, but will log on tonight to see if I am the guy who gets the blade. If so, I will send paypal this evening, or send a USPS money order tomorrow, whichever you prefer.

Cheers, fellows.

-Dave (aka threephasenorse)

Threephase, I was gone today too. It is your if you want it. I can have it ready to ship tomorrow. Thanks!

Matt

Sorry barnpatrol (assuming Threephase still wants it), Keep an eye out, there will be more.
