Echelon

Alright so I posted that I was charged for the knife earlier, but Kershaw sent Echelon labels on the wrong boxes and and Knifecenter does not have them yet, so they charged me by accident. So back to waiting.

Echelon

Since Jennifer from one of the videos mentioned that these shipped to dealers a week before SHOT, I was hoping these would be popping up soon.

I need a new Kershaw fix. :)

I was kind of wondering if maybe Knifecenter.com has had shipments in and ran out of Echelons before they got to my order, and so they told me Kershaw mislabeled the box instead of saying they had one shipment but not enough to fill my order (assuming they are filling orders in the order they were pre-ordered).

I'm not too thrilled with my Echelon. The size and looks are great, but the handle is so squared off on the edges that it makes it miserable to hold and use. I may take some sandpaper to mine to try to make it usable.

They have shipped?

How can that be Thomas said he would let us know when they were shipping?

Sorry to hear you don't like the flat square cut g10. I round over the edges on most of my g10 knives that are flat, not 3D.

Yeah, I ordered one on Jan 31 as soon as I got a notice in my e-mail from a vendor. It was delivered on Feb 3 if I remember correctly.

I think the knife has potential with some minimal reworking, but out-of-the-box it's a bit on the rough/crude side.

Hey, could you compare in pictures to some other knives? I know the specs but would like to see it next to some other knives for comparison (plus, I want to see how your g10 looks)

And a couple more... lousy pictures, but it's dark and I need to get to work. I'll try to upload a couple of detailed closeups a bit later today.

OK, I finally took the time to inspect the knife closely. One scale has a beveled edge, while the other is completely squared off. I don't know if this is by design (poor decision), or if this was an oversight during manufacturing, but it is definitely odd.

I have requests with two different dealers to advise when they are in stock and I haven't heard a word. Dang.

Thanks Vege-Taco, have you carried it yet? Do those thumb lugs hang up on your pockets? I hate knives where the thumb-studs are so long they hang up, which is why I love Spyderco's. I see what you mean by ergos, that is odd. It may have something to do with the sub-frame lock or whatever they are calling it. I will update when I get mine if it is like that too. I definitely like symmetry, but I am still excited to get this knife. That is also a very wide blade (wider than I thought when compared to the manix).

I'm carrying it today. I didn't notice any issues with the thumbstuds, but the clip is so tight against the scales that I can't get the tip of my finger under it very well to help ease it onto my pocket. It's a short, stiff clip, that's held close to the scale.

Interestingly, the blade isn't sharpened all the way back to the choil.
As you can see, the thumb stud is tapered and smooth, so it doesn't really grab the pocket.

V-T

I've carried an Echelon for about a month and didn't find issues with the scales, as both slabs were beveled. I didn't experience any real hot spots. The clip wasn't overly tight. As to the sharpening...if you want the plunge, this is what you get.

It seems the one you received is not quite right, perhaps I should send you another for evaluation?
