Hey guys,

I know we had another thread where a 110 ecolite didnt close the point all the way in and I hate to be a wet rag but I won an eco 112 for gooood price a week ago or so and got it today. I followed the tracking at work and couldnt wait to get home and thoroughly enjoy it(even though its a girly nife:p) I opened her up and she locked up beautious but when I closed it, I repeatedly saw this...

It was already oiled but I cleaned and oiled again to no avail:(
It appears it catches on the front left liner right where it recesses to a half width. I messaged the seller who said I could send it back and he would order a new one and also suggested I send it in to Buck for warranty. I gotta send it either way so its probably best to send it to Buck. What do you guys think?

I had the thought that I have a couple oldies, specifically 1st ver 1st var micarta 112 and a 2 dot 110, that could use a sharpen and buff. One of those flat rate boxes would getem there all together for cheap. I took a couple pics of the blemishes on the 112 and would also like your opinion if thier standard sharpen/buff would smooth out the nicks in the micarta?

thanks in advance and sorry about the wacked out thumbnail orientation

Thats a bummer! I would send them in to Buck at the same time! Thats how I did it the last time I sent some in. I bet they would get your oldies right back to shiney new :D

Sorry to hear about that Eco. Please send it in, along with the knives you want polished, and I will take care of it for you. Since you have to send in the Eco, I will waive the refurbish charges on any others you send.
By the way, that older 112 looks....diferent. Beveled bolsters, nail notch? Its a real head scratcher.
I looked at the big ding in the micarta. It all depends on how deep it is. Most likely, we can take it out completely, based on what I could see in the pics.
Please make sure you send them to my attention ok? :)

Joe,
Thanks, I'm sorry about it too, but its ok. I have the 110 which was a little stiff at 1st but some oil brought her around perfect. I have no doubt in Bucks ability to correct the issue on this one and maybe head off it happening on more of them.

Your offer to waive the refurbish fee wasnt necessary but very much appreciated. Another example of Buck going above and beyond.:)
I look forward to you having a chance to check out that 112, you may not remember, but in the original thread I posted about it, you thought it may have been a factory custom by and for an employee or a special request of friend of the company. I am interested in your opinion once you have it in hand.

Again, many thanks

Fritz

Besides the fact that Buck makes the best knives going, this is the EXACT type of thing that's made me a BUCK FAN FOR LIFE!

My eco had a slight drag closing completely, But it seems to be better after carrying it for awhile. It is the 112. I also bought the 110 and it has a nice walk and talk on closing! I would love to find one of those older 112's with micarta! Sweet knife!

Thanks Plane,

I lucked into that micarta. It was on the bay and had a lousy ad and a poor picture. I had to look and look to decide if it was mircarta and wasnt sure until I got it in the mail. No one was watching it and with 10 min to go or so( I think this is how it happened-bout a year ago now) it was around 10 bucks. Slight surge with a minute left but stole it for around $18 plus s&h if I remember correctly. I cant wait to see it after a little spa treatment:)

I wanted to let everyone know. My Eco 112 that had a similar problem as the original poster's, just came back from Buck. It appears to be in perfect working order and is REALLY sharp after the tune up they did. Thanks for your great C.S.

wow what more could you ask!!
this is why
Buck is a cut above all the others
and is my choice for a knife company ...

This is what makes Buck the compay it it.

You can't count on a heck of a lot in this world, but you can count on Buck to fix a problem with thier knife. Makes it almost un-needed to look at another brand of knife!

Buck knives are one of the best manufactures out there and they deserve credit for the way they do business. Great group to do business with. THANK YOU guys!

Thanks for posting jeff and glad to hear it went well. I have had no doubt that they will make it absolutely perfect. I find myself now just waiting and waiting and waiting....did I say waiting for news that it and the others are coming back. Joe notified me he recieved the package, which was a relief since I was very anxious sending them in. Now my complete lack of patience is getting the better of me...like a little kid at Christmas only worse:o

I know what you mean there fritz. I just mailed off the 6 Bucklocks that got messed up in my display care to Joe.

I started having separation anxiety before I got home from the post office!:(
