eco disappointment

Thanks for posting jeff and glad to hear it went well. I have had no doubt that they will make it absolutely perfect. I find myself now just waiting and waiting and waiting....did I say waiting for news that it and the others are coming back. Joe notified me he recieved the package, which was a relief since I was very anxious sending them in. Now my complete lack of patience is getting the better of me...like a little kid at Christmas only worse:o[/QUOTE

I know what you mean there fritz. I just mailed off the 6 Bucklocks that got messed up in my display care to Joe.

I started having separation anxiety before I got home from the post office!:(

I used a smal flatrate box with the eco, vantage pro for adjustment, 1st version 112 micarta and a 2 dot 110 for the spa. I got it all packed up, signed and sealed when I realized I forgot to put the note to Joe inside:eek: So I tried to pry open the sides enough to shove it in but had to fold it a few more times to make it narrow enough. I didnt tape the edges and once it went into the bin behind the counter, I immediately started imagining all kinds of scenarios of how someone could slide each knife out where the note went in. Even with $250 worth of insurance I wasnt at ease. Alot better once Joe pm'd me that he got em.

Hope yours are able to be brought back to like new condition Plum-good luck and good waiting. Remember, patience is a virtue:p

I am ABSOULUTELY not trashing Buck or their obvious dedication to customer service. Please understand that.

My Ecolite 112 is doing it again!:grumpy:

I opened it and closed it a few times after reciveing it back from Buck everything seemed fine ( as indicated in my last post). Set it on the shelf and it was out of the EDC rotation for a while. Picked it up last week and opened and closed it normally ( no 'popping' or any radical opening procedures, no cleaning or oiling or cutting) and the blade still sticks out a tiny bit as indicate in the O.P. when I close it.

ARRRGGGGHHH!

I can't understand it. I don't want to send it back again and waste Bucks time looking for whatever the issue is, but I can't carry it without using a sheath or I'll worry about sticking myself if its closed 'almost' in pocket.

This sucks! I really like this knife!

Jeff,

Clean it really well and then oil the heck out of it, clean it off, put another drop on each side of the ricasso to get it back into the pivot and let it set face up for a couple days and I bet it will start to work perfect. Keep it oiled. I think these are made with such tight tolerance, they need an oil film. I hadnt mentioned it when I got it back but it still stuck at time. I shared your ARRRGH feelings but after going through that process it has been smooth as silk ever since. If I had been patient and done this to begin with, I probably could have saved it a trip back to Buck.

If the blade is rubbing against the liner, here's my (two cent) suggestion:

Use a little piece of fine grit wet/dry sandpaper, wrapped around the end of a popsicle stick (or the equivalent 'craft stick', found at Walmart/Hobby Lobby), to polish the inside surface of the liner just a little bit, where the blade contacts it. You might be able to smooth it out just enough to eliminate that friction. The flat stick makes it very convenient for making flush contact with the liners inside.
