Economy and Gear

IF I still have enough to keep the electric on, I don't really need to add anything.

If I don't, then I'd like a water filter (the big jobbies that gravity-feed 5 gal at a time) and some spare filters.

Other than that, I'm pretty much set.

Food. Work dried up, receipts dried up shortly thereafter, I have tried to buy extra canned food every time I go food shopping. Everything else I need I have. How many cans or boxes of food can you buy for the cost of a knife.

I think Psy-Ops is refering to unemployment and not losing his home or having to live outdoors. Thats why bedding isn't listed.

Of course extra blankets would be a good idea if you are light on 'em. One would probably lower the thermostat when money gets tight.

Yes. Alot of people are putting supplies in with gear. Sure you should have food and ammo. But to me gear is like sleeping bags, packs, firearms, knives, boots.

If the economy decreasing heads South some of us might not lose our jobs but we might not get as much income. But right now we have our income and maybe there could be some expensive gear that is worth investing in before things go south.

A fire place or water filter, a solid ax for those who don't own one. A $200. pair of boots is a worthwhile investment. To buy the good stuff now is smart but when you are on a tight budget it would not be prudent.
