I recently purchased a knife from Jason Aube of Ecos Knives (www.ecosknives.com) and received excellent customer service.

For those who don't know, Jason makes these knives in Canada and then sends them to his father in Michigan. This lowers shipping costs to the lower 48, which is something I always like.

Anyway, I ordered a Little Prick (and my girlfriend can't stop laughing) and received it just a couple days later. The USPS box included a black paracord necklace with a knot already tied and a black zip tie, supposedly for mounting to MOLLE. It also included the knife with a sheath described as ABS (but looks like overheated Kydex) in a clear plastic sleeve. The sheath had a small sticky label with "little prick" written on it. I'll post some photos for your eye holes while my girlfriend cracks up again:

Sheath looks like overheated Kydex. I would know, I've ruined a couple knife sheaths in my time.

All kinds of stuff needs to be cleaned in this picture.

Found some blue paracord lying around. Also my lighter and lighter holder.

A look at the business end, plus paracord.

My only real complaint: The sheath has a small crack in it here. But I plan to make a new one for it anyway, so I'm not going to knock Jason for it.

Now for the real question: How does it cut?

The blade came to me so sharp that I needed a band-aid just looking at it. Now I don't have any way to perform a standardized test, but for opening boxes and cutting paracord this knife has done AWESOME.

Customer Service:
I was emailed promptly and politely, and the shipping was very quick. The only thing I would add is a handwritten thank-you note, but I understand that these are shipped from his father. That would make it a little difficult.

Overall, I rate my experience a 9 out of 10.

So, this being my first review and all, how'd I do?

Pretty cool, they're pretty inexpensive from what I can see, $35 for a Kiridashi? Not a bad deal. You might want to clean up the knife a bit, unless it's the lighting, your blade is showing some signs of neglect. I think I might pick one up for myself, looks nice!

Thank you for the advice, and I hope you do go through with your purchase. I can't let good customer service go unrewarded, so I'll suggest going with Jason's knives to pretty much anybody.

I've bought from Ecos Knives since at least 2010, and have always received great service and solid quality knives (at a very nice price). Just bought a couple more tonight - a Bowie style blade, and one of his Tanto knives.

Please note that he's not making knives in Canada. He moved to the Philippines (Cebu) from Michigan back in 2009. He ships the knives from Cebu to his dad in MI, who then ships them to the customers. Sounds complicated, but service has always been pretty fast.

Jason is good people. Highly recommended.
