Anybody have a good online source for getting these. I want a nice used one to keep the price down. I find them pretty bomb proof. Kinda leary of Ebay, since there are so many fakes and stuff. Thanks.

I saw one at a local pawn shop for 75.00 last week in XL. It was used, but in nice shape, and a great price.

Wow, you can't find anything in pawn shops around here. Guns are usually 15 to 20 % over retail.

Air force base is really close, so alot of stuff like that comes through. Guns are stupid high in that store, and the guy is a dick that runs it. My go to gun shop is a differant one, but the dick does have good surplus every once in a while!!

There are three "generations" of ECWCS. (Not to mention loads of stuff said to be ECWCS spec but NOT.)
Each generation includes a "breathable" water-proof outer layer (Now called a "hard shell".). "Breathable" fabrics don't breath much - at best. A film of water stops breathing. In severe cold, the cute little holes freeze shut. Some details and overall quality have changed (for the better) over the "generations."
Gen III has two outer garments in addition to the water-proof "breathable" layer: 1) a "soft shell" (highly water repellant and more breathable than anything waterproof); and 2) an insulated water-repellant overcoat ("loft" layer).
All three generations are available in used or previously issued items. Do a Google search for "ECWCS" and check eBay. Watch sizing closely.
Misinformation and fancy claims abound.
Gore-tex is a reatively poor fabric when it comes to breathability (although requiring high quality of construction in any garment with their label), but the company has managed to keep superior breathable fabrics out of the U.S. market by establishing themselves as THE breathable fabric in the public's mind and offering big discounts to any signiicant maker (like Lowes in 2004) that starts to use the better fabrics (like eVent). http://www.verber.com/mark/outdoors/gear/breathability.pdf
