Here's one that Ed made a few years ago. (2006) From what i know he made about 8-10 "blended" fighters in total. Each having varying interpretations on the idea of a mid-line bevel. On this one it is subtle. Great feel!

I feel it is an appropriate time to post this.. - a tribute to a real "fighter". Ed himself is on the mend from having hip surgery last week. I hope those of you who know him will send him a word of encouragement his way, or post here. Get well Ed! (smile)
Thanks,
David

Hello Ed,
I remember your advice to me when I was down for 6 weeks with a knee surgery, You said "Enjoy the time off" It did seem to help ease the pain. So Ed, "Enjoy your time off" my friend, God speed on the healing.

Get well soon Ed!

Love this knife David. That's some interesting banding in the zone near the spine.

Hope you get up and around soon and back on the horse and in front of the forge. Look forward to talking with you in Atlanta in June.

ed lay off the 100 proof for a coupal of days. you do'nt want to miss the saturaday nite barn dance. the best of hope for a rapid recovery.--dennis

I've only handled a Fowler fawn at the Niles Gun and Knife show,
it felt good in hand for a small knife.
I marveled at the blade's cross sectional density shape and the alloy banding in others I've had the pleasure of viewing.

And what could be better than a Fighter !?

Thanks for sharing, David.
Get well, Ed.

Doug

Sorry to hear Ed is under the weather. Ed: Hope you're feeling well soon (and make your way back to the NY/NJ shows!)

Thanks Friends: I now have a bionic hip, 3 weeks out of surgery and I am trying to enjoy the time off, mostly sleeping. Already my hip feel better than it has in years, but still not doing much more than sleeping. My record is 1 hour on the computer then back to sleep.

The Doc gave me some great pills, but sure would love to get back to work. Funny how our minds work, but am getting anxious to make some knives, have some ideas but got to stand before you can do much work. I should be off the walker next week and on crutches, meantime have read some great books and have some ideas for new articles.

My old computer crashed for the last time so getting used to a new one, I guess the only way is to jump in and swim. I saved the head off of my humerus for a part of a knife handle, just may be a one of a kind. I won't be able to sell it so it will be a keeper.

Thanks again for the good wishes!

now that, is badass:cool:

Note for Ed: Your granddaughter, Andra, says that is really "gross." But, she also mentioned that your humerus is in your arm, and wanted to know what your arm bone is doing in your hip (I wanted to say "ass" but didn't think that was appropriate.) Anyway, the big fighter looks great and I'm glad you are doing well. Kim says "Hi" and she also thinks using the top of your femur for a knife handle is kinda bad. (I think it's great.) Get well - you have more knives to make!!

Really cool fighter! I agree, using your own bone on a knife handle is badass. Kind of like wearing enemy soldiers' bones as jewelry!

You are very correct thank Andra for me. The head of the Femur is what I will use. Still taking plenty of pills and get some words mixed up. It really is a beautiful piece of bone, will shine up like a moose crown, I hope.

When it comes to working Ram's Horn... Ed is THE man!

Feel better Mr. F.
