Anyone know how to confirm if a Knife is an Ed Fowler knife? Long story short, I came by this knife. Working with my phones AI and Google, they're saying it's Ed Fowler Large Camp Knife. It has 725 stamped one side and FOWLER stamped on the other. It's a 1/4" full tang blade with what appears to be high carbon steel and a very comfortable wood handle. I don't know how to upload pictures on here or I'd upload them.

All I know is this knife has my interest peaked and the rabbit hole of finding out about its history has been very interesting. I've found interest in forging and the process of it before but now I'm hooked.

I see the three knives posted below attributed to a Ricky Fowler. But I can't confirm that he is the maker. Looks like the same "FOWLER" stamp as the knife you posted. Each knife has a number stamped on the reverse side. I found several others with the same marking online (including several at Arizona Customs). From what I've read Ricky Fowler works out of Silverhill, Alabama.

If you want to try an contact Ed Fowler, here is some contact info. It's from 2019, so I don't know if it's current.

I believe Mr. Ed Fowler passed away in December of 2025

Ed Fowlers makers mark was a willow branch on the guard from the Willow Bow Ranch. He did not stamp the blade itself. I’ve also not seen a full tang wood handled knife of his other than a few of his early attempts shown in his book, which didn’t appear to have a makers mark on them.

The blade profile/silhouette seems similar to an Ed Fowler knife with the belly and dropped point but that is almost certainly not an Ed Fowler knife and is likely a Ricky Fowler creation as noted a few times. Ed’s makers mark and style are very different. Convex edges, brass guards, forged blades, and sheep horn handles were Ed’s style. None of that in in the knife pictured. Also Ed didn’t put sharpening notches/choirs on his blades. He specifically avoided them.

Thanks guys. Like I said, definitely new to this world and my source of information that lead me here was Google and Gemini. Either Ed or Ricky Fowler and it seems to definitely be Ricky. I'm in southern middle tn so an Alabama forge makes a lot more since. Either way this blade is beautiful and is far superior to something store bought
