...some of you guys are going to get a kick out of this one :D

So, how many times have you thought, "gee, I wish I could pocket my hatchet, but it's so large and heavy."
I know! let's make it smaller, and lighter, and distribute the weight across the whole thing for balance, and oh what the hell, make it a folder!

Tadaa!!

Man oh man, if we had an Axe, Tomahawk, & Hatchet Forum this thread would go perfect in there!

Kind of reminds me of using a utility knife to cut fruit or a steak. It can be done of course, but not conveniently.

Weird idea and it doesn't seem like anyone's who's attempted it has found a design that actually works.

To be honest, I wanted the kick axe at one point :D
It is cool if anything, but it never took off and eventually I learned enough to realize it's probably not that great.
All that stress would surely weaken one of the many joints.

So does anybody have an idea of how a folding ax/hatchet could work?

My friend bought me one for my birthday knowing I am a knife nut and I had nothing like it. He was right, i used it to chop some saplings etc after I sharpened it up. Worked, but a medium fixed blade will do better. Its a neat thing to own, it has its place in my walk in knife safe hidden deep beneath lime cavers.

How durable is the lock on it? Anything feels loose after chopping down the saplings? I'm curious how sturdy it is.

I can't wait for threads to pop up with "Which pocket axe for formal event?" and "Which pocket axe for office discreet EDC?"
