EDC a SAK only?

Yes a SAK does almost everything daily...carry extras for fun, nostalgia or as the need arises. They still have a place in my life.

Much like brother SAK Guy, alox seems to find its way into my pocket quite often. And always a minichamp, no matter what my "main knife" is. I enjoy the many different types of traditional knives that are in my collection, but really do have a soft spot for my Alox Vic's.

A SAK make a fine edc pocket knife that does it all. You could go down the road with a SAK and not be lacking. If I were not such a blade floozy, I'd be content with only a SAK, but then I am a knife knut, so I'm hopeless.

For a whole whack of years (for at least a decade, I think), I carried a Vic Classic as my one-and-only EDC. (Actually it was sequence of Vic Classics; while the design is indeed classic, the product itself is less than entirely robust.)

Nowadays, it's relegated to EDC Knife #2, paired with a Camillus Army Engineer's knife (4-blade camper/scout/utility pattern).

For me it's a gloves issue. If I can get away with thin gloves or bare hands while working, I'll be comfortable with my one hand opening GAK/Trekker. But when the Hg drops and I need thick gloves, I need a fixed blade I can get my hand around. This week I could break out the SAK with temps reaching 60°. But I'm still going with a fixed blade or at least a Buck 110.

Can't wait for summer!

I have at times carried only an alox SAK, and occasionally still do. Currently, my daily pocket carry consists of an alox Cadet, an alox Mini Champ on my key ring, and some other medium to small slipjoint of my choosing. The third knife is just for fun and not for need. When I feel like going minimal I just go with an alox Bantam and no other knife.

So sure, depending on your lifestyle and work, "SAK only" is certainly doable. I suspect that if one were to poll the entire knife-carrying public, and not just those who visit knife forums, that those who carry a single SAK would be a sizable percentage if not the majority.

I always have at least one SAK on me (Classic on the keychain) but I always pair it with a heavy duty, plier-based MT and sometimes even a third victorinox or a slipjoint ride in my pocket.

Otherwise, with a SAK as my only tool/knife, I'd feel pretty naked, honestly.

This past summer I kept it light and carried my Alox Cadet solo for a couple of months. It's so light yet so handy that I didn't have any issues or feel under-prepared. I'm back to a 2-blade carry now and the SAK rides backup.

I've gone "SAK only" for years at a time. It's always been a Vic Executive. Millions of people live their lives just fine with no knives on their person.

I only carry one knife at time and I very often carry SAK (soldier for the most) and it does the job just fine! Only reason I would carry bigger / locking folder knife would be if I was working on construction yard (winter) or so..

I carry just a Victorinox quite often. I for one feel that if wearing anything more than casual wear a knife clip in the pocket is a no no. If wearing slacks and a coat I carry a Farmer, Tinker, Alox Secretary, Alox Bantam, or a bone handled Case mini Trapper.

The secretary is my favorite "dress knife". It is sleek and has a really useful little en blade that won't draw attention from anyone in any setting. I do not always feel the need for a locking folder with a pocket clip.

Personally, I almost always have a SAK style knife (I use that caveat because I'm more and more impressed with my Boker Tech Tool), but I also carry a large modern folder. That said, I would happily guess just based on sales numbers that the vast majority of people who carry a knife most or all of the time carry a SAK and probably a SAK only.
