I have a Strider SMF coming tomorrow or the next day. I see that this is a very large folder and was hoping it would be a great EDC. I have honestly never owned a knife this valuable and was wondering if anyone carries/uses one and could give me an idea as to how it carries.

If not I was thinking of trading it for a Sebenza Classic. If so, what size do you figure is best for EDC.

If you don't mind dedicating a whole pocket for the SMF then it should be fine. If you need a large folder and it's legal then there's no problem.

I had a lifter sheath made for mine, strictly for the times when I don't want to advertise that I have a knife.

I plan on using this knife but before I do, anyone recommend a Sebenza classic over it? I do kinda like the idea of being able to send it in for a "spa" treatment when it gets a little raggy looking.

i tried, but it was just too big.

i can get the same blade length with a more pocket friendly knife.

i liked it, but sold it because it was just sitting.

They are two totally different feeling knives , so different that you need to hold and compare to make a decision for yourself.
I find the Concealed Carry versions of the Strider Framelocks to be more comfortable than the flat scaled versions , but you might think just the opposite.

I have carried , used and sometimes abused my AR for about 6 years ( lost track ) , and it has never been back for a "spa" trip... I wouldn't want to wash away all it's " character " that it has developed.

You will know pretty soon if the SMF is too big.
The SnG is perfect for me.

I carry and use mine quiet often, very comfortable carry IMO!!! Depending on which handles you ordered will depend on how it carries as well. The CC's (concealed carry) are thin and very smooth (makes for nice pocket carry), the GG's (gunner grips) are thin like the CC's but the texture can be hard on pockets from what I've read (I'd like to try them out myself), and lastly are the Lego’s or standard grips. The Lego's are the thickest of the bunch and I've never actually looked at one with these grips so I can't really attest to how thick they really are. The grips on mine started out at Lego’s but they've been sculpted and smoothed a bit but I never even know it's there because of the flat profile and light for size weight! If you’re used to carrying larger knives you'll love it!!!! I carried a Emerson CQC-11 and a Emerson 2000 Commander before I purchased mine so the size is very comparable to what I was used to.

This one has dual Gunner's grips. I really don't care about it being rough textured. I guess my main concern was using it and losing any trade value toward the Sebenza if that was the route I wanted to go,

Not trying to be an over cautious whiner here, it's just that in the last two years it has been a rarity to be able to afford a knife like either of these.

I understand completely, been laid off myself for the last 2.5 months!! Just pocket carry it and see what you think. Keep the cutting cores mundane till you make your mind up. I've never had a Sebenza; I do want an Insingo Sebenza if I can find one though. If your SMF is like mine and the others that I've read about you'll need to sharpen it to get a hair popping edge if you like that kind of stuff.

Never been a problem for me. If I have to wear a suit or slacks I simply change the mode of carry from pocket to IWB.

Matador-

if you do alot of cutting go with the classic, its more versatile, if you mostly like the secure feeling and bling factor and only do moderate cutting, edc the smf.
