EDC a Strider SMF?

Size is one thing, value is completely different, the SMF will carry great...I know what your talking about when you question using something so valuable as a letter opener and tactical sandwich cutter. I have a couple of Custom Crawfords and while I love them (they will be handed down to my kids) I stick with carrying my Cold Steels, Kershaws and ZT stuff. This way if something happens, I just go pony up the 50-150 bucks and call it a day.

I carried my SMF on summer vacations. Got it second hand (read - a lot less than retail) so I dont baby it )))

Depends what you use your knife for and what you normally carry. If you normally carry something like a Delica then the SMF will feel quite large. if you normally carry 4 inch folders then you would be fine with the SMF.

As for better EDC, the Sebenza will be sharper out of the box and will probably function better for simpler EDC tasks. However with some reprofiling, Striders work quite well and are just bad-ass

So what do you want? Elegant and classy or bad-ass. Both are equally awesome but different. The only resemblance they share is a titanium framelock.

Well, I stopped by the house in time to sign for it, put in in my pocket (duck work shorts) and went to quote a job. A plumber that I know was at the job and he's a small guy, about 5'6" and 120 lbs with small hands. I handed him the knife and watched him choke up on the handle, slip his forefinger into the choil on the blade and wield the knife for a bit. It looked actually comfortable for him. I myself have a pretty wide hand and it fits pretty good. The weight is not to bad.

I'm not gonna front, it is a work of art as far as knives go but it is quite a pocket full.
I'm gonna pocket carry it for a few days and do any cutting tasks with another knife. I would love to have a Sebenza classic but as nice as this knife is I might end up just saving up and owning both.

As far as the dual gunner's grips being rough and ripping up pockets, I now think every knife should have dual gunner's grips, these things are awesome.

I dont own an SMF but I do own an SNG and even the SNG is a bit too clunky and big to comfortably carry in my jeans. When I wear shorts the SNG fits much better in my pocket and is much more comfortable. This is probably due to the fact that shorts have bigger pockets and hang looser off your body. I cant even imagine trying to edc the SMF in a suit pants .

the 21 is pretty close to the classic. the only difference are the chamfered scales.

the regular is no longer being made.

I often carry an SmF in right front pocket.
I also carry a wallet bulging with cards and occasional cash in the same pocket with no issues.
I recently got an SnG, and that thing is puny, especially with the DGG. I barely even know it's there. Feels weird.

I felt the same way when I (briefly) owned an SnG. Similar feeling having a Small Sebenza compared to a Large.

How do you use those tiny knives?

SMF is a nice knife, size isn't too bad.

I won't be using it for "Hard Use", that's for sure.:)
The tip is nothing compared to the SmF either. The tip on the Chinook inspires more confidence, and good luck prying with the majorly thinned down G-10 side.
Makes a nice medium duty knife though.

If I can't baton a rib cage apart what's the use of carrying it? :D

why aren't you going to use the SMF for cutting tasks? After you carry it for a couple days I think you will be pleased and it will become your EDC.

Cause I didn't want to cobb the blade up while I was trying to figure out if I'm gonna keep her or not.

I'm glad someone likes them on this knife

Right on brother, I watched your youtube vid earlier and it was cool.

Glad you are happy with the trade, hell you have a work week's worth of new EDC's to try out now.

Great deal, I'm falling in love with this knife.

Covering both bases , I carry an AR and a PT CC.

I could do 99% of my cutting chores with the PT , it may be small , but if I really need more , it's time to bust out the fixed blade ( MFS ).

:)

Way I see , pants have 5 pockets ( including the watch or coin pocket ) , may as well have something in each :D

2 days in pocket. I think I'm in love with this knife. There sure is a big difference between this knife and anything else I've ever had in my pocket. I get the impression that this knife is built for some serious s#$t!
