Hello all,

I am looking for an everyday carry folder that must meet the following criteria:

1. Thin. I don't like carrying thick folders.

2. Blade under 3-inches. Steel doesn't have to be the best, but I don't want the cheapest either.

3. Good handle grip (i.e., ergonomics). I have small hands so a large handle is not a must.

4. Smooth, fast one handed opening. I don't know if the thumb stud or the hole is faster.

5. Removable clip.

6. Under $75.00.

Thanks in advance for your help.

monk71,

Spyderco has a few knives that fit each of your criteria. Look at the Spyderco Delica, the Salsa, and possibly the Native.

The Camillus EDC probably meets your requirements as well.

Another quality knife would be the Benchmade mini-Griptilian.

Good luck,

Matthew

Look around for a Spyderco Calypso Jr. They are discontinued, but there are still some around.

Another vote for the Darrel Ralph designed Camillus EDC. It sounds like just what you are looking for: flat, great ergonomics, good steel (154CM), and in your price range.

All of the recomendations so far are spot on. They would all make for excellent EDC. I would like to add The Paragee by Outdoor Edge. Like the Camiullus EDC it was also designed by DDR. They are a real bargain right now.

Small sebenza! Err...wait...:footinmou

:p

I'd say either the Camillus EDC or BM Mini Griptilian. :)

I just picked up a SOG blink for a freind. I was overall unimpressed by pictures on the internet but my mind was instantly changed when held one in person. It is thin enough to be a moneyclip, the clip is reversable and removable. It has a strong lockback, SAT opening assistance and a saftey switch easily accessible. I primarily like bigger knives because of the grip, but the handle fills out my hands very nicely and would be dead on perfect for smaller hands. It is super-fast without feeling like it is gonna jump out of your hands. And though I thought it looked boring online, it is a really classy looking knife....high-tech.

Blade is AUS8 (japanese 440c), wich SOG treats really well I think. handle is brushed, anodized aluminium, but looks and feels like titanium. I picked it up for 30 bucks:eek:

I agree with Starfish. I am especially partial to the Delica. I have both the FRN and SS models. Either one should meet your need and fit into your specified criteria.

I've got smallish hands also. I tried both the Spyderco Endura and Delica and had some trouble opening and closing them.

I finally decided on the Spydie Native because its handle was by far the most ergonomic for my hand size/shape.

I want second the Benchmade mini-griptilian suggestion. It is a well made folder that can take some serious abuse. I also want to sugget the Spyderco Navigator. I bought mine form EKnife/Smokey Mountain Knifeworks for $29.99. It is hard to go wrong at that price!

Is this a misprint? If not, please show me where. From what I see, their prices are pretty rediculous. Model 806 D2 for $156.99 when 888knivesrus sells it for less than $110. I only see the Mini Griptillian for $78.99, which is much more than other sites I've seen. Did they run a special?

Mike

I believe that the Spyderco Salsa fits every one of your requirements;

1. Very slim, compact folder

2. Blade length; 2 7/16" Blade Steel; AUS-8 on aluminum handled Salsa, ATS-34 on the Ti Salsa

3. EXCELLENT ergonomical, Almite coated, aluminum handle (or an all Titanium handle on the Ti Salsa).

4. Spyderco Trademarked Opening Hole w/Cobra Hood for easy one-hand opening

5. removable, tough wire pocket clip.

6. Spyderco's tough Compression Lock(nested in handle)

7. price only $59.99 at OneStopKnifeShop.com

Pic is of two aluminum handled Salsas.

Good Luck :D

Hey Sergiusz,

As long as you've got that digital camera and the salsa out, would you mind giving us a spine shot?

Thanks,
JamesA

James,
I don’t have digital camera at all, these shots are made with relatively cheap (as to professionally working stuff) Minolta 505 Super with a small bit better than standard lens.

This is the only spine shot what I currently have. If you would like something special please let me known, I’ll try to do it in the nearest photo session.
