Here are a few I highly recommend:

Kershaw Scallion
Benchmade 555 mini-Griptilian
Gerber Air Ranger (maybe a little over 3")

You can't go wrong with any of these.

personally i find the scallion very small, and the scales are ridiculously slippery
if only they made them in g-10
anyway, it's still a good knife for fine cutting, but it doesn't sit right in the hand

the avalanche on the other hand is great
good handling, great opening, but the linerlock is a bitch to close until your thumb gets used to it
i got mine on ebay for 80 usd, but the blade is slightly longer than 3 inches

i really like the look of the salsa tho
i've never liked sypderco, but that knife looks cute
