What a great thread! I'm kinda in Riverwarrior's, um, boat: Maiden, yes, and up the irons! Dio, Savatage, glam-shredders like Dokken, even some metal-pop like Evanescence and Seether. I also listen to a lot of orchestral movie soundtracks (cue "Imperial March" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark"), but my all-time favorite is Basil Poledouris's "Conan the Barbarian." It rocks me out of my boots harder than Maiden does.
EDC rotation: AK-47, BM 950, BM 745, Para1, Native5. I guess they do kinda represent the metal-to-orchestra music spectrum. Huh.
P.S. I'm assuming we're not talking about fixed blades (if we are, then ... that's even more fun!). But I live in the damn SF Bay Area, where "EDC" means, at most, a folder. If you guys live in areas where EDC can mean "fixed blade," then I take my hat off to you ... and I'm kinda jealous.![]()
If restricted to folders, I will nominate Bob Dylan ("Don't Think Twice") as he goes ramblin' down that road with my lock back Schrade folder in his jeans.
If fixed blades are included, I will choose my Tramontina machete and the Melanesian Pidgin song "Mere, Mere" by O-shen. O-shen is a white man born of missionary parents in Papua New Guinea. O-shen was raised in the village and grew up living as a local boy using a machete toclear brush and plant crops.
