I am looking for a new edc blade that has 154cm s30v or any steel that is better than aus 8. I want something with a blade length somewhere around 3 inches. I like the sog flash 2 but want better steel. plain edge. under 70 bucks if possible, ANY SUGGESTIONS,

It's over 70 bucks, but you couldn't go wrong with a Delica or a Caly3 in ZDP189. Great steel and solid knives.

There are quite a few good options in that steel/size/price range. For example:

Buck Vantage Pro (large)

Benchmade Mini Griptilian

Spyderco Delica
Spyderco Centofante 3
Spyderco Native

I'd get a Spyerco Manix 2. It's bombproof, has 154CM steel, a ball bearing lock, G-10 scales, and is one of the few Spyderco models that has a lower profit margin. In other words, you get a lot for your money.

Other good options: Kershaw Leek composite blade, Buck Vantage Pro, Benchmade Griptilian.

+1 on any of those.

Check out the SOG Mini Vulcan also it's just a little bit over your budget from Amazon. The Kershaw RAM is also a good alternative but not sure what steel it's has off the top of my head. I really like my Zero Tolerance 0350 but it's a little more than you want to spend at around $100.

Theres quite afew out there...Benhcmade griptilian/mini griptilian, native, delica, endura, manix 2, buck vantage pro.

Thanks, I really like the centofante 3 and the manix 2. And out of s30v 154cm vg10 which is the best and which is the lower grade?? I have a CS spartan but dont like it that much. I have to sharpen it all the time.

Generally speaking, S30v > VG-10 > 154CM. S30v and VG-10 are very close though. The only real difference would be that S30v still cuts well after the initial sharp edge is gone. VG-10 will tend to roll instead of of getting toothy. I like them both.

I'd say S30V > VG-10 = 154CM. S30V is noticeably better than VG-10 in my experience.

Ok, Im gonna chime in on this. I love my Spyderco Native, its light weight and has S30V steel and is a joy to carry. Its stout as a bull also. I have had mine at least 3 yrs and love it.

I'd say S30V>154CM>VG10. They're all stainless, so the main difference is edge retention. But 154CM and VG10 are almost as good as S30V, despite costing much less. Another thing; S30V forms micro serrations and a toothy edge, whereas VG10 is a good pusher. Heat treat is also important. Spyderco, Buck, and Kershaw are particularly good among production companies.

Both the Centofante 3 and the Manix 2 are hollow ground, meaning that the blade is thin behind the edge. This is particularly true of the Centofante, since the blade is only 2mm thick at the spine. Thinner edges will cut better and be easier to sharpen. Other than that, the two knives are very different. Pick the Centofante 3 for a super sharp gentleman's folder, pick the Manix 2 for a blade that can hold up to some heavy duty tasks.

same story as me. Native was my first quality piece, and absolutely love it.

I'd put s30v WAY ahead of vg10 for edge retention. Keeps a ridiculous working edge. Yeah, I can get my dull vg10 up to a razor in a minute or so, and s30v takes me longer. But once s30v loses that hair popping edge, it still stays very sharp.

That said, I love the Centofante. I have the discontinued Centofante 4, but it sees much more pocket time than my native now. Very elegant and lightweight, super thin lightsaber of a blade.

It's really hard to say what YOU would like, though. If you can go fondle different knives at a store, it helps.

OK, weights not important, I want s30v after all i have heard,i Like the native. Any other knives with s30v for the price of the native. Thanks

not many knives available with s30v for around $50. maybe the buck vantage pro (347bks).

I'd suggest S30V as well. I find it hold and edge way longer than 154cm, and is not much more difficult to sharpen.

If you can find any of the S30V mini-grips i'd suggest those. Probably going to be second hand though...
