EDC Discussion!

I like to keep it simple- phone, wallet, keys (with bug attached) and my edc (or 2) for the day. Today that was a Lightfoot warhead and the 2012 traditional knife.

EDC huh?

Well...

Springfield XD40 4", Tops Firestrike 45 wrapped in paracord w/attached Firesteel Armageddon, Leatherman Wingman, Victorinox Huntsman attached to a carabiner by a paracord lanyard, Phone, Wallet, Keys, Personal survival keychain (Exotac fire rod with jut twine in the tinder storage, Tops whistle, Maglote Solitaire, Outdoor Edge Mini Blaze, Firesteel Striker, all on a Leatherman Carabiner), and a bandanna in my back pocket.

I think that is about it.

Wait, I forgot a Seiko Orange Monster kenetic watch.

I like to keep it as simple as I can. Since lately I'm at work 6 days a week ill just go with my work EDC. Front right pocket is a box cutter, right rear pocket has my leatherman wave and whatever knife I grab that day (lately its the BM 940) left rear pocket is wallet and I'm trying to work a light into it somehow. Then a cheap watch and a few pens hanging off my shirt.

Here's a good example of the stuff I carry (minus the cellphone that took the so-so pic: BlackBerry Pearl Flip)...

setup01.jpg

Swiss Army Officer's watch, Vic Pioneer, Chris Reeve Knives Large Sebenza 21 Insingo, leather wallet, Bic lighter, Vic Rambler, Fenix E01

Walther pps, watch flavor of the day, folder flavor of the day, wallet. Soon to be a 4sevens aa2 added to the list.

Mine is ALWAYS changing, like a lot of us. but today, for example, i carried.....

Benchmade Griptilian
Gerber Applegate mini
Leatherman Squirt p4
Streamlight Stylus Pro
Maxpedition micro wallet
zippo
Spyderco baliyo
and my keys which have a spydey bug, Kershaw T tool, streamlight nano and Gerber Shard on em.

On further review i seem to be sporting a very "tacticool" or "mall ninja" EDC -_-

Looks like ill need to make some changes XD

Typically I have this stuff on me if I am leaving the house:

Wallet
Michelreius 2.5" x 4" notebook with mini pen and book of matches tucked in the cover
Victorinox Swisstool Spirit X
Benchmade Mini Grip 556
Smart phone
AA Nebo flashlight
Keys

Sometimes the Mini Grip gets replaced by an Izula, and it and the Spirit ride in an Adirondack pocket sheath.

Work requires dress clothes, so the the multitool goes in my bag and the knife carried is a smaller, more elegant traditional slipjoint (Case Peanut or GEC #25).

Any one of a number of 3-3.5" bladed folders (currently Buck 285 Bantam) and a Streamlight Microstream.

- pocket pistol, all day every day: Kahr PM9, Kel-tec PF9, Ruger LCP, Ruger SP-101 .357 or S&W 442 .38; Uncle Mike's cheapy pocket holster
- folder: could be anything
- Quark or Fenix 1xRCR123 or 18650 light on belt
- SAK or multitool, Fox 40 micro whistle, Sharpie
- Samsung SII Skyrocket on belt in Otterbox holster (huge phone, really too big for me); and what the heck kind of name is "Skyrocket" anyway?
- wallet, cash, keys
- Casio G-shock "Riseman" with solar and atomic reset; awesome.

Skyrocket and light not shown.

How many entries before this'n gets merged with Kaizen's thread in Gadgets?

It may get merged, but "too many" EDC threads is still not enough for me.

A good tactical pen to look at would be the Hinderer Investigator or Extreme Duty.

Anyways,
A typical day for me:
*2 knives - Usually Large Sebenza and Techno. Today it's the Spyderco Para 2 and Spyderco Squeak, with a Spyderco Kiwi along for the ride in the watch pocket.
*Flashlight and Pen - 4Sevens Mini AA and Fisher Space Pen Bullet
*Phone - Text messages are endless for me, I must have this at all times lol.
*Wallet - My rainbow wallet, until I get a nice leather wallet.

Just kidding, nice of her to think of me anyway.
Compared to most of these posts it seems like I carry a lot, but after many months of experimentation I find myself in need of most of it on a regular basis.

-Gshock
-Cold Steel Recon 1 clip point (soon to be replaced with a Spyderco Breeden Rescue)
-Spyderco Gayle Bradley Air
-Bandana
-Smith and Wesson tactical pen (point makes a great probe/stylus)
-Stainless steel sharpie
-Car key
-Gerber shard
-ResQme
-iTP A3 EOS flashlight
-Countycomm LA/NY wallet containing ID and cards along with a flat roll of duct tape, 6" plastics ruler, bandaids, and a few paperclips
-Keychain always in left front pocket and attached to my belt holds an ACR whistle, pill case, peanut lighter, tweezers, house key and spare keys for both cars, and an encrypted memory stick with important personal info.
-IPhone 4S which was used for the picture

Of course the knives are constantly being changed, and I'll carry a 4sevens quark A or Preon 2 if it makes sense.

I don't change up too much but should probably change a few things. My wallet definitely needs to be downsized but not sure how I would hold it all.

-RRP: Wallet, green laser that rides vertical next to wallet
-LRP: Samsung Galaxy S3. But usually phone rides in jacket pocket if cold or cargo pocket if hot and rear pocket is empty.
-RFP: Benchmade Rift, every day. Pill container, I'm disabled and this is very important. Car keys with expandable pen, micro SD card/reader, mini backup pill holder. Cloth sunglasses cleaner. Sometimes a second knife. Since I always have the Rift, this is how I carry other/new knives. Chap stick.
-LFP: Change, Bic lighter (dont smoke), Leatherman micra, Swiss tech mini pliers, Spyderco Salt 1 with cash clipped, inside pocket, mini nail clippers, light clipped to pocket- currently Surefire Backup
-IWB, 11 o'clock: Kel Tec PF9 with built in pocket clip
-IWB, 1 o'clock: Another folder, again so I can use different knives. This one is usually kept very sharp.

This is if I'm wearing pants with 4 pockets. If there are more, things get spread out more. Also usually have a necklace on that I've had for about 15 years, a baseball hat, and a pair of polarized, glass lens sunglasses if I'm outside or in town. Usually also have a backpack with a ton of stuff I grab when leaving house.
