Hello all. New here, so apologies if I am posting in the wrong area.
I've got about $200 to spend on a small EDC fixed blade. I do a lot of greenwood carving, so blade shape is important (not too deep, not too thick) I am considering the BRK Little Carver, but are there other marks or makers that I should consider? Many thanks for your help!

Bark river mini aurora.. I've been looking at that one or bravo edc.. curious to think what everyone else thinks.. the funny looks great too

What size do you consider friendly for edc?
There are some that won't go over 5.5" oal, and some that edc 15"+ bowies.

I would look at:
- Production
Becker 11/14 with scales
Busse Game wardens
Busse BG AMS or BG AMS ergo

- Custom
JK Knives:
Potawatomi, EDC Canadian Belt Knife, Bluegill, Toby's Knife, plus plenty of others.

Bradford knives:
G3 or G4

Plenty of others in the custom makers exchange.

All good suggestions thus far, but what I have found is that the "C" in EDC makes the sheath/holster key with the fixed blade.

A mediocre knife in a great sheath/holster can be a fine thing - but even the best knife without a proper means of carrying it securely and conveniently just doesn't cut it.

I agree. A lot of my medium to small blades have big sheaths that make the knife very much bigger which is critical in this blade size range. You may have to find a blade that you like and then have a custom sheath made for it.

Without a doubt I would get a custom. Check out the knife maker custom fixed blade forum. Should be able to get something that calls your name.

Nice catch on the Chip Thwitel Whittler. I had not seen that one. Looks like a good economical pocket carry.

Alexander Noot and Matt Bailey and Duck Childress for customs.

AA Forge, here on the exchange, makes sloyd type knives which sounds like what you want. The reality is you could try a Mora knife for $30 , give or take, and find out if the style suits you. Find what you like on the cheap, and then go spend larger amounts to get precisely what you want. Bark Rivers are all convex ground, if you haven't sharpened one, something to consider. The Bradford 's 3 is an excellent knife, 2 styles of kydex available if you don't like the leather cross draw sheath. I really would think about posting in traditional's or the bushcraftinng sub's, that's where you're going to find the best info on green wood carving knives. Really, most of the Scandinavian brands excel at it, and if you want to spend $200 out the gate Fallkniven are excellent too. $.02
Thanks, Neal
