It depends on how you want to carry. I usually like fixed blades on my belt. I often carry in Kydex with a Tek-Lok or soft loops, depending on the knife. I often make sure it is at least partially covered when in civilization because I don't like scaring soccer moms at the grocery store.
I will sometimes carry IWB but that's not ideal for utility applications in my experience. Normally, I'll put a defensive fixed blade like the Pinkerton Lancer in the same IWB spot where my gun usually goes if I'm traveling to states that don't respect gun rights. I'll often carry a regular folder for utility when I do that.
As far as EDC fixed blades for utility, I like a smaller knife. The Guardian 3 is a little too small for me and the handle shape forces an uncomfortable grip. The Guardian 3.5 is "just right" for me.
