EDC Fixed blade advice

It depends on how you want to carry. I usually like fixed blades on my belt. I often carry in Kydex with a Tek-Lok or soft loops, depending on the knife. I often make sure it is at least partially covered when in civilization because I don't like scaring soccer moms at the grocery store. 😜

I will sometimes carry IWB but that's not ideal for utility applications in my experience. Normally, I'll put a defensive fixed blade like the Pinkerton Lancer in the same IWB spot where my gun usually goes if I'm traveling to states that don't respect gun rights. I'll often carry a regular folder for utility when I do that.

As far as EDC fixed blades for utility, I like a smaller knife. The Guardian 3 is a little too small for me and the handle shape forces an uncomfortable grip. The Guardian 3.5 is "just right" for me. Here is a picture of it in a better sheath from Armatus Carry Solutions. Below that is another great EDC fixed blade from David Mary David Mary . Definitely reach out or see what he has available. David does amazing work.

Thank you for the shout out Chronovore Chronovore . In fact I just posted to the exchange for the first time in a while. And one can always feel free to check out my shop thread. If someone likes a particular design I am working on and reaches out, I'm usually happy to set it aside for them and even to take requests for specific handle materials, grinds, etc.

Here are some of mine that I would recommend. I tried to show some different matchups for size comparison. If you have an Izula 2 you may not like the Izula or the Becker’s. The LT Wrights are really nice and some models can be found in A2, cpm-3v, d2, 01, aeb-l

I am going to look at David's stuff! Thanks man!

Ok dumb question, newer to the fixed blade world. This is the dozier? It looks wicked nice!!
Yes, it's the Bob Dozier Personal. Handmade in Arkansas. It is D2 with his famous heat treat and coral Micarta. That knife has been mine now for over 20 years and it's as good as new. Dozier's kydex is excellent too, widely regarded as some of the best anywhere. Pocket or belt carry. The belt clip has a little lip on it that makes sure it never comes off a belt unintended. That's an ink pen holding it open so the lip is clear.

And here's some good news for you. Right in line with your budget. Actuallly under, at $210.00.
