Hello all

I apologize if this is the wrong forum to solicit advice.
I would like to buy a fixed blade EDC and would like to see what folks suggest.

My requirements are:
- non-tactical, traditional looking design
- blade under 4" (but larger than 2.5")
- total length under 7"
- Drop point or Wharnie type blade
- convex grind is ok not necessary or preferred, although I dont know how to sharpen them
- Budget: Id like to keep it around $100 but will consider up to $150

To give you an idea of the designs I like:
- Dozier Personal (K-28) (although blade is a bit on the smaller side)
- Bark River Woodland

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

EDIT: Would I be better off posting this in the traditional folders and fixed blade forum?

For every day carry you may want to consider something with skeletonized handles, that way it rides flat in a sheath. There are some nice ones in the makers forum time to time, I carry a Busse Skeleton Warden, pricey but unparalleled performance. A less expensive alternative would be a Swamp Warden, however neither are in production and tough to find. The makers forum almost always has something available without handle slabs.
My EDC below... I wear it clipped inside my pocket, the slim profile still allows for use of that pocket. 3" blade .190" thick stock INFI, price is around $220.00(on the exchange), a Swamp Warden (SR101 steel) can be had for around $125.00(on the exchange), and it's very similar in size to the Skeleton Warden.

Take a look at Blind Horse Knives Workcliffe and their two patch knives. If you want a very thin blade and handle combination, the Tiger Knapps may work well. Michael Morris' Profiler fits your description, as well. These are all custom knives for well under your budget.

If you're going for very traditional, Blind Horse Knives makes some great Patch Knife designs that are very classy.

I carry a RAT Cutlery Izula EDC, just slip it in the front pocket and you're good to go. Great little knife. If you have really big hands it may not be so good, but otherwise it's a great knife. It has quickly replaced my SAK as most used knife.

The Bark River Woodland Special has a three inch blade and is just under 7" total. You should be able to find one under $150 without much problem.

I know you want a longer blade but the BM Snody Activator in D2 with winewood scales is one of my favorites. I carry it in a JRE sheathe rather than the stock sheath and love it.

T.O.P.S. has quite a few small fixed blades, or if your looking for little bit cheaper, CRKT Kommer series are pretty nice

I carry a Bark River Micro TUSK every day and I have been exceedingly happy with it.

I would also cruise the Makers forum under fixed blades for sale right here on BF and be prepared to say "I'll take it!" fast when you see something you like. I'm on my second hand made knife from a couple of the well regarded makers here and am trying for a third now. You will find some pretty amazing values and some great choices there.

You snagged one of the ones I had in mind for the OP.:D:thumbup:
