EDC fixed blade?

Ok

I'm going to put my 2 cents in here because a rat-3 is my EDC fixed blade. I carry this knife as my FB more than I carry anything else.

HOWEVER

One selling point that is a MUST when I buy a knife is a good plastic (prefer kydex) with holes for paracord. I carry all my FB knives set up for horizontal carry with paracord loops so that the knife sits between my belt and my pants. It's sort of IWB, but not quite.

I've tried a lot of other things and this seems to be the best for me. I like the paracord loops to be a little loose so that I can cant the knife depending on how horizontal it needs to be to stay out of sight. It works well enough that I have 4 different FB knives set up this way.....it's also cheap, durable, and easily customizable. It also gives you some place to carry extra paracord.

This is the idea, just one particular way to carry using paracord. You can do horizontal or vertical or in between.

The picture is not me, not my knife, nor did I take it. Just a visual example.

I've been carrying a Strider DB (the thinner .190" PD1 version) in its Kydex sheath (when I wear jeans) in my front pocket by removing the Tek-Loc and it carries as easy and comfortable than most of my folders. I use a lanyard on it which makes it even easier to access it when needed. There are several smaller fixed blades (like mentioned above) that make great EDC's.

I have a ZT 0121 that I love but attached to my belt it sits too high and is uncomfortable to get in and out of the sheath so I started carrying it inverted (but the sheath has great retention) but I only carry this way when working/using the knife around the house...I would go to the mall carrying the 0121.

Good luck!

My edc has been my scrapivore for a couple years now(it seems). I was too cheap to buy a kydex sheath so I made my own. Its simple thin little walnut sheath. keeps a low profile and fits snug. It is probably my favorite knife ive ever carried and its been to hell and back. Plus when it is in pocket the two button knots are just long enough to stick out of the pocket and make for very quick deployment.
