1st post guys so go easy on me if this has already been beat to death. Just wondering how many of ya carry a fixed blade daily? I'm a machinist/fireman so I'm pretty rough on my knives . Never owned anything worth more then $100, but really been wanting a quality knife . Any input would be appreciated

i carry an Esee 3 everywhere i go but would never think of using it for daily tasks ... i keep it for ''emergencies''

Was thinkin about the izula2 . Really stuck between going fixed blade or getting the Zt 0450. How comfortable is it carrying fixed blade ? I've always just worn one hunting or just randomly. Never carried one working and doing the normal daily things

I EDC fixed blades mainly. I have a few models that I rotate through. I recommend the Esee Izula 2. It is a nice size, has a nice sheath, is tough as nails, great warranty, lots of aftermarket support, great blade style for EDC imo, easy to sharpen, exc.

i wear it at the 8:00 position on my left side an hardly know its there. in and out of my truck with no problem.

I'm a landscaper and carry my gerber yari 2 a lot or a gerber epic depending on the days schedule. I always carry a folder no matter what.

I never leave home without my Becker Bk14 in my pack. The Izula gets carried some times in my back pocket.

I carry one or more daily.

Since you didn't mention size or $ I'll say a Fallkniven kolt- 3.5" blade, or WM - 2.75", or an F1 - 3.9" blade. I edc a Fallkniven juni on a ball chain as a necker n love it. You could always go for a little sexier and go for an Falky Idun or an SK 1. One is a leather handle n the other birch. I'm a little biased n love Fallkniven n their looks.

I've found that what makes or breaks a FB for daily carry in my case is the sheath, even more than the knife. It has to be comfortable to carry standing or sitting, working or doing nothing. I think a lot of manufacturers don't give enough thought to their sheaths. Comfort, concealability, accessibility, and securely retaining the knife all have to come together. A simple sheath like the Izula and BK14 have can be user modified to carry the knife in a lot of different positions & locations. That's important. In most cases, I think you just have to try a few different carry locations, knife lengths, etc. to see what works for you.

I carry a small FB 5 or 6 days a week. I stick with knives that are around 7" OAL with a 2.75"- 3" blade length. Most of mine are horizontal carry. The BRKT Essentials are in an angled cross-draw sheath. My favorites are a couple of Doziers (Arkansas Traveler and Straight Personal), Bradford's Guardian 3, and BRKT's Essential. All have well-designed carry systems that are comfortable and easy to reach. I like to carry FBs in cross-draw so I can reach them with either hand. These all work well at about 10:00.

Whereabouts in southwestern VA? ... if I read that right...

Thanks for the input guys. Def goin with fixed blade for EDC. Izula2 will be going through hell soon.

The Spyderco MULE fixed blade, is a very handy size for EDC use. I am wearing this one today, in a cross draw, forward cant pancake sheath by Larry Parsons

It's one of my favorites to carry, great knife/great EDC size, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Hey, although the stock micarta scales are nice, if you ever want to get some nice G10 ones with an even nicer profile, check out the knife connection. They make aftermarket scales for a bunch of Esee models. I have them on my Izula 2 and like them a lot.

When I carry a fixed blade as an edc, it is usually a handmade knife by Bob Dozier. I very much like his knives and the personal is my choice for an edc when I want a fixed blade. I even sometimes take it on hikes in addition to a folding knife. I really like Bob's horizontal kydex sheaths. I am not real big on buying hand made sheaths as I tend to feel the manufacturer should make a reasonable sheath or have one available as an accessory.

Bark River has some real nice smaller knives that I consider suitable for edc.

I also like some of the Becker "neck" knives for potential edc carry. The BK-14 and BK-24 come to mind with aftermarket handles.

exactly what I was thinking... its more about the sheath then the knife. by the way im in Fairlawn VA, about 40min south of Roanoke DALEFULLER
