Edc fixed blades

Folders are great, but lately I've been carrying around a SOG Snarl edc fixed blade (bought for $17 on clearance) and it's compact size and kydex sheath is really comfortable. So comfortable I haven't been carrying around a folder as much anymore. The sheath hooks right on the front of my belt and I don't even notice it's there til I need it. How many of you have switched to an edc fixed blade or enjoy carrying one instead of a folder? Also what kind of edc fixed blade/blades do you carry?

Frequently mix it up from folders and carry my izula 2. Very comfy little knife with the micarta handles

When I am camping I generally carry my RMJ COHO as a small EDC blade to compliment my RAT5. Comes with a nice sideways sheath.

Small compact fixed blade EDCs are real common in our cowboy world. They are a safety item for us as well, case a guy ever got tangled in a rope with a horse and a cow. Last weekend at our branding:

These are all customs I've done.

I like fixed better than folders
buck 105 pathfinder
ka bar 1258
short Beckers
esee
ontario 499
there's loads of good small fixed on the market I like them around 5 inch blades not to small or big very versitile size in my opinion

No switch but do enjoy fixed blades which will always get carried in addition to a folder, a smaller blade in addition to a larger one is a must for me even if the fixed blade isn't that large.
This Buck 673 I rehandled was on my side the past 3 weeks or so.

I seldom carry a fixed blade in urban areas, but I do have a number of discrete ones to carry if I choose to. Fixed blades for me are mostly for the country. The 3" Condor Mayflower has been one that I have been carrying off and on since June. It works for me especially since I generally wear a tea shirt un-tucked in the summer and it covers up any small fixed blade I might choose to carry.

White river backpacker. The best edc fixed blade I’ve ever owner. I carry it cross draw at my 10/11 o’clock.

:) I've gone full circle and back again , on fixed vs folder . There's a place for both , just depending on your particular needs and preference .

Just recently I've been carrying my old Spyderco Warrior , because someone got me a nice kydex sheath for it . Works CM style !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yeah, I like it too, especially the Pro model. I think it would be a better edc knife with thinner bar steel. But as a back pack/hiking knife, a little strength is not a bad thing as long as it cuts okay.

I usually carry a fixed blade out in the woods or when doing stuff around the yard. If doing regular work tasks with a knife, I definitely prefer a fixed blade. For EDC though, a fixed blade has to be fairly small and easy to carry. A folder is usually more convenient so that's what I carry most of the time.

I rather like the Tonife Squirrel. It is very small. It feels good in my hand. The sheath is decent and pops off with a thumb press. I've never used it as a "neck knife". I've just kept it sheathed in a pocket. It opens packages like a champ but I wish I could get it in better steel. I'd pay a few extra bucks for 12C27, 9Cr18Mov, etc. Heck, I'd love to see a "good version" of this knife around the $50 mark.

For my legit, every single day carry, I use a Tops Little Bugger. My wife got it for me for Father’s Day and it hasn’t left my pocket. I pocket carry it and sometimes inverted strong side on my belt. Mostly pocket though.

I made the switch two years ago.

I really like small ones (< 7” OAL, < 3”
blade) for summer urban/suburban carry.

Right now my favorites are the Fiddleback Forge EDK and Runt.

IMG_0285.JPG I like small fixed blades, front left pocket carry. I have a JK Worker that I need to sharpen and carry, just like the handle size, 4 finger grip, and the blade has just enough drop to the point. My other JK HC all steel knife is also a good size. At least I cut up the boxes at work open mail.
Bottom knife is the Worker, the other is a Bird and trout in DI.
