Edc fixed blades

So this has convinced me to take my JK Worker with me today. Along with my small folder, maybe my BM Proper or Manly Wasp.

I have gone back and forth on fixed blades. Currently working through crossdraw carry with a few knives to see if I can get something I like consistently. Keeping it concealed under a shirt is important as people don't like seeing knives at work in the city. I EDC around the house pretty regularly. I like small fixed blades and have a few customs on order that I'm hoping fit my desires a little better, namely a handle big enough to be comfortable without the need for a 3.5-4" blade.

This little Anza came with a crossdraw sheath, which works pretty well. A shirt tail, even a t-shirt, makes it unobtrusive. I usually prefer to drop a small fixed blade in a pocket, something I do often, but not every day.

I would look at Dozier's and their kydex cross draw sheath is excellent for concealment, blade retention, ease of removal from the sheath, and of course being able to put the sheath on your belt without removing your belt.

This covers the topic perfectly.

:) I've gone full circle and back again , on fixed vs folder . There's a place for both , just depending on your particular needs and preference .

Just recently I've been carrying my old Spyderco Warrior , because someone got me a nice kydex sheath for it . Works CM style !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Well, let's see the sheath and how you carry it!

I have a few spyderco g-clips to try out on the kydex sheaths coming with the custom knives I have on order. I love leather sheaths but there is a convenience that I like of not having to thread a belt through the sheath when switching pants or what I'm carrying.

Currently rocking a Bradford guardian 3.5, which is just a touch big for EDC for me, but pretty close. It will be great around the house or hiking.

It is not unusual for me to carry a fixed blade instead of a folder. But I carry mine in my front pocket. Usually it’s an Izula but I also do carry a custom skinner. I have a Kershaw field knife Hunter that I’m going to get on the sheath for and probably carry that because I like the design.

I do carry a Bastinelli Pika or an Izula regularly. I wish that more makers would make small fixed blades in premium steels, the only two I know of is Bradford and some Bark River Knives. I'd like to see ZDP189, A11/10V/K390, Vanax, or Rex121.

The Creely Baldes Mako is in Rex 121, but that's been discontinued for a while.

I mainly EDC a fixed blade and its usually a JK handmade knife. Great guy and great knives!

I work in an office, so 9-5 on weekdays it's a folder only. But on weekends, I'll EDC a small fixed blade as a compliment to my folder. What I carry really depends on what I think I'll be doing that day....

Just general running around, it's usually a Brous Silent soldier. It's so nice and small that even with my shirt tucked in, it's barely noticeable. I took the chain off the sheath and added some cord to allow me to slide a belt through.

Sometimes it's a Benchmade Hidden Canyon. Especially if I'm going to be out working in the yard, or off in the woods. Replaced the horrible sheath with one from Armatus and a small clip from Bladetech. Carries so much nicer now.

If I know I'm gonna be beating on my knife, I'm working in the garage, or just feeling a bit 'tactical' for the day, it's a CRKT Stiff K.I.S.S. In the sheath, it's a little long to hide under a shirt carrying cross draw (which is how I carry all my EDC fixxies), but I'm usually not worried about concealment when I'm wearing it. Makes a great all purpose work knife, and will pry, chisel, scrape, cut, and do all the other nasty chores I don't want my better knives to do.

I picked up a CRKT Pangolin to try toting a fixed blade around EDC-wise because I kept reading that it was a swell idea, and it gave me an excuse to buy a cheap knife on sale. Turns out I don't gain any particular advantage from toting a fixed blade versus one of my folders-uppers, at least around the home and office. Camping, though, I always carried a Buck 105 Pathfinder. In that context, yep. I like the fixed blade.

Drop Forged Hunter is my favourite fixed blade EDC. For more formal situations I carry Boker GoBag since it's smaller and much lighter.

I live in small town central and work among customers so I haven’t really found out comfortable to use fixed blade that would be easy enough to carry, deploy and conceal without being cumbersome. I have played with idea of having ultra compact/thin blade but folders are just too handy because they fold a bigger blade with full handle.
All of this is of course just me and my needs and enviroment.

Still like a fixed blade, still working on the ease of access, convenience and carry method to be comfortable. The fun is in the journey. Still have a folder too, it does see more use.
