I'm needing a new flashlight to replace my 4sevens Quark mini AA. The 2 were suggested to me. My needs are mostly EDC but I do need high lumen capability for safety as I work at night and have a long drive home. What say you all

Fenix PD35

The Eagletac d25c clicky is bright at about 450 lumen has great modes and is small and light but cr123 cells don't last that long if you use your light a lot and get expensive.
The Fenix pd35 is twice the size but uses 18650 cell so your battery life is considerably longer especially on the lower settings. Also is about 1000 lumens on high.
Between the 2 id pick the Fenix if you have the pocket room.

I recommend the Mini-Maglite LED. It replaced my PD-32 as my E.D.C. and I also got the Solitaire LED to go on my keys. So I'm pretty impressed with the Maglite LED series.

Fenix are quite good. I've been using an E12 fot the last half year and its doing just fine. If you need more lumens, then go with one of the bigger ones. I've found the 12 to have a good balance of run-time and brightness. I rarely go above medium output.

The PD35 is insanely bright, and offers lower output levels for extended battery life. Good stuff.

My first love was flashlights - before guns, knives and multitools. I now EDC a Fenix E05 (new edition). Its a small AAA, but cranks an impressive 85 lumens for an hour (using a NiMH rechargeable battery like the awesome Eneloop), with lower outputs for extended runtime as well. That's plenty of light for most needs. It will light up the average back yard.

Consider maybe a PD35 in the glove compartment with an extra 18650, plus an E05 on your keys.

I often direct traffic at night (parking cars to raise $ for a charity because I'm a swell guy), and use a pair of Streamlight LED Stingers with traffic wands. They will run on high for a couple of hours, and have a tight, throwy beam. Plus strobe. Strobes are awesome for getting people's attention.

In my vehicle, I carry C-cell flashlights from Lowes. They are around 120 lumens as I recall and I like them a lot. Have probably 5 or 6 of them that I use regularly at home and on the job. If I need something more compact, I have some other inexpensive ones that run up to about 300 lumens. They are also in my vehicle and I just have to grab one.

The ones that I am interested at looking at are the SOG flashlights. I like the lower cost ones and won't spend the money for some of the Surefire and other expensive ones as I find them un-necessary.

Have you considered a AA battery light for EDC?

I used to EDC lights that ran on CR123's, but AA batteries are so widely distributed and easily found everywhere, making high power AA lights more practical for EDC. I alternate between several lights, but my fave is the Zebralight SC52 L2. It's compact, comes with a pocket clip, has programmable levels, strobe, and runs on 1 AA (NiMH, lithium or alkaline) or a 14500 li-ion battery for higher output.

I second Zebralight as an EDC light. They're compact, carry very well, and have served me just fine in an EDC role. Incredibly brightfor their size, and run times are good, especially when using 14500 Li batteries. I currently EDC the H52w which is the headlight version, meaning that it was a 90 degree head on it.

I've been very surprised by my solarforce z1 carry it all the time and it works great at work

I just got one of the AAA brass Maratac lights from Countycomm. I am very impressed with it. Also have one of the SS AA models that is great but they have been out of stock on them.

Fenix PD35

The only one of the two I've used is the Fenix. I must say, especially for its size, it is one insanely bright light. The highest setting will get decent battery life, and an incredible beam, if needed. The lower settings are plenty bright, and have pretty great battery life. I've been thoroughly impressed by the PD35.

I watched a good review on the Thrunite Ti 160 Lumen, by Cutlerylover

Thinking of others like the Fenix e15 or Olight i3S EOS as my options for edc, haven't decided yet.

I love my Fenix E05. I got the stainless version to replace a beat up LD01. For a light that disappears in your pocket it is plenty bright for most tasks.

Highly recommend fenix pd 35. Had one for almost a year. One of the my best purchases. You can't go wrong with this one.

I edc olight i3s eos. Best light for the money. Bright as he'll for a light that cost what 25$ and so compact and small. Only bad thing is I lost my first one due to it being so small. Haha.

I keep a G2 Surefire in my truck and it cranks out like 320lm, but it's a little big to carry in a pocket as an EDC. It was $70 - $80. I recently started carrying a Fenix E12 and I sometimes forget that it's in my pocket. It puts out I think 130lm on its brightest setting and I honestly can't imagine needing more. It was $26 shipped.
I just purchased a Thrunight T10 in titanium for $42 shipped that puts out 170lm on the highest setting. I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm on a titanium kick and I want a complete titanium setup.
All of these lights are tail cap switches which I really like. The Fenix and Thrunight are fully activated by the tail switch where as the Surefire is just momentary on with the switch. To keep it on you have to screw in the tailcap.
The Fenix is more than bright enough for anything I would use an EDC light for. The Surefire lights up houses at the end of the block. Say I had to chase someone through a neighborhood, I would use the Surefire (I'm in LE, so people running from me is a common occurrence)

I 3rd Zebralight. I'm wearing mine right now.

You gotta give way more information than that. Head over to CPF and fill the checklist in the recommendations section in.

I'll add my hat to the Zebralight circle. I got their SC600w Mk II for my night shift job, and it has performed incredibly well, with output levels ranging from 0.01 lumens (so I don't blind myself looking for things) all the way up to 1020 (for when I want to blind others) Replaced both my Surefire G2X Pro and my Fenix PD22. Admittedly the initial cost is high and the interface takes a bit of getting used to, but if you get yourself a couple quality 18650 rechargeable batteries and get the levels set to where you like them, it'll probably be the last light you'll ever need.

I have a Fenix PD20 that I'm very partial to. Not sure how much lumen horsepower you need, but the PD20 is a great EDC light with plenty of output. I think it's the PD22 now, but either way. My only complaint is I seem to turn it on in my pocket on a regular basis. That shit gets HOT quick.
