I've been looking for a decent flashlight for a while to compliment my Paramilitary 2 for EDC, something relatively light and compact but powerful. I walk around at night a lot, both at home and on camping trips when I get up at 2 am to make bacon or use the restroom.

I've done my research, and have read good things about Fenix lights (especially the PD35.) I'm all set to buy the Fenix PD35, however I'd like some input in case I've missed something or there's something else that would better suit my needs.

Save money and get a Surefire, you will eventually. Hello, my name is KABAR and i am a flashoholic...

I bought a PD32 several years ago and it is a great light. More recently I bought a PD22 and it is now my EDC light.

For the price I'd stay with Fenix or foursevens, even nitecore. I use a nitecore MT 26 as my main house light and car light.

surefire, i went with the peacekeeper pr1 but they have a tone of awesome torches which can be found for less on eBay or amazon.

How about models that lend well to clipping in kydex? Do any of these work with that?

I have a couple of Fenix lights that I take camping. My wife and I each carry one when we're out with the dogs at night. They're CR123 lights and I carry several spare batteries in my Maxped bag tat stays in my truck. I carry a Streamlight Pro AA light when I'm at work. Fits real well in a Sharpshooter pocket sheath with my Dozier Straight Personal in the other side of the sheath. The Streamlight would work well enough at night, but the Fenix lights give more light and I like that when I'm out with the dogs in the woods. I've had 'em for a couple of years now and they've never given me any trouble at all.

Price isn't really an issue. All I want is a tough, compact, powerful light for EDC. The Nitecore lights look awesome, I'm having a look at the MH10.

Don't underestimate the value of a good headlamp (handsfree use without putting a hunk of metal in your mouth!) with a wide beam and output low enough not to blind you and everyone around you. You'll also get enough runtime to last the trip on one set of batteries.

I got a SureFire EL1 outdoorsman last year. It's exceeded my expectations. Also if you ever need parts they're excellent to deal with. I broke the clip when I snagged it and being in Canada we don't always get the same love that customers in the USA do. I got on the phone and they had spare parts mailed out to me that day.

I do have a Petzl headlamp for when I need it but for a light that's always with me this can't be beat.

Buy once; cry once.

I like the Thru Nites. They are a great value and come with a lifetime warranty. They are equal to anything out there with the exception of Surefire. If money is no object, buy a Surefire. If you want a quality light that gives you a ton of lumens for the money, you can't go wrong with a Thru Nite. Read the reviews.

I carry a Thrunite T10 cause its cheap and easy to replace if lost or damaged but they are not equal to Fenix or Eagletac the fit and finish is much lower. If money is no object look at Prometheus or McGizmo you will not find a finer light these both blow Surefire smooth out of the water without even trying however you will be spending several hundred dollars.

I prefer Silent Hill carry... attached to my vest/jacket for hands free forward facing light.

Zebralight 18650 headlamp with pocket clip.
