EDC Flashlight

Aye CM those work well too. I have had my eye on a fenix hl50, fenix hp25, or Spark sd52 as a task light upgrade. I have not pulled the trigger yet because my current gear seems adequate for my EDC scenarios. It's more about tinkering around under the hood of a car and working on a breaker box than searching outdoors warehouses and such. I have some throwers for that too but it is so rare a task I don't carry them on me.

Olight's S10 baton is a great CR123 flashlight with a huge output and small size, with a deep-carry clip to boot. If you want small size, there are many Maratac 1-AAA twist-on style flashlights out there, Titanium Innovations IlluminaTi is a titanium-bodied 1-AAA with good output for a reasonable price. Not super fancy, but you can't really beat the pocket space saved.

This video isn't mine.. But I used to have this Kobalt 150 Lumen flashlight until I traded it away for a Cold Steel knife. I miss it. This light is amazing in every aspect. I recommend this for EDC to everyone. The light is BRIGHT, and I mean BRIGHT. The beam will cut through the woods and light up the area like lightening and the night will literally look like vivid daylight. That is the best way to explain this light to the folks that have not invested over one hundred dollars into a tactical flashlight. It is more than quality for the price. It performs like a $100+ light. It is only $40.00, so it is a perfect light to EDC around, and it won't be a big deal if it takes a beating. If you are looking for a first real flashlight - This is the one to buy. You wont be disappointed.:thumbup: Good post CM as well.

At the top end the HDS Rotary in a CR123 is about the absolute best. Much, much, less expensive but also quite good is the EagleTac D25C in titanium. I like both of them but certainly the HDS is about as good as you can find but you are going to pay for it.

I 2nd HDS. I've owned a couple. I would own one now if they made a right angle torch like the one I carry today.

If your choices are AA or 123s, go with AA for cost and ease of finding them in a pinch.

Look up either the Zebralight SC5w or SC52w and thank me later. Buy a 4 pack of Eneloops with a charger and you're set for years.

Fenix and Nitecore only offer cool tints that I'm aware of so for me they're no goes.

If you don't have a price limit look into a HDS rotary or clicky. I have a older 170 lumen clicky and I would never part with it. Also look into a Malkoff MDC.

That's exactly the zebra light set up I bought, s52 with 4 pack enveloops and charger.

I have a 4Sevens Quark Pro with the turbo head. I was blown away by the performance in such a small package. They are modular as well, so you can swap out the body, head, etc. to use different batteries or change out the reflector.

I'm a flashlight neophyte, but picked up a County Comm Maratac AAA Copper. Not a bad little light @ 140 Lm (40 and 1.5)

Really nice light, very bright. Just didn't like the tint. Sold mine and picking up a copper Prometheus Beta. Once I experienced Nichia 219 in another light it's hard to go back to cool tints or even yellowish or greenish XM-L2 neutral white lol.

Update: I ended up ordering a Nitecore MH10. It should be arriving today or tomorrow. Seems like a pretty good light — 1000 lumens, fairly small and lightweight, rechargeable battery. If I am unsatisfied I'll go looking for another light, but I doubt that will be the case. When it arrives, I'll give a few brief impressions of the light.

Sorry if this counts as necroposting.

I carry a Thrunite T10 cause its cheap and easy to replace if lost or damaged but they are not equal to Fenix or Eagletac the fit and finish is much lower. If money is no object look at Prometheus or McGizmo you will not find a finer light these both blow Surefire smooth out of the water without even trying however you will be spending several hundred dollars.

I'm new to the flashlight game, and let me just say, reading about these Prometheus lights is blowing me away.

All of these are great brands, though I can personally vouch for Fenix lights, especially the Pd35. I've had many different Fenix lights and the pd35 seems to be the highest output in the smallest package. Fenix also makes some excellent head lamps... I believe everyone should have a compact head lamp in their pack.
Surefire is good as well but overpriced in my opinion - a Fenix will perform the same and you won't be afraid to beat it up or lose it

I also carry an eagletac once in a while
