What edc folder do yall see fit to do all around things from field dressing deer, cutting zip ties, cutting hose and rope to getting out splinters and doing more detailed work?

Must be 150 or less

Pics always make it better lol

A fine tip, good maneuverability, and not too long of a blade for field dressing are some attributes you should look for.

Delica/Stretch is a good start.

My next EDC purchase is the new Mantra, check it out.

A large 'trapper' pattern jack knife is just what you need! It has a long spey blade, with a good amount of belly to field dress, and any rough work and a fine clip point for the fine jobs

The Blur in Elmax steel is a fantastic EDC. I wouldn't muck it up field dressing a deer although you could with it. Being how this is a knife forum, I'd play devil's advocate and suggest picking up a fixed blade from one of the awesome knife makers on the forum! It's a slippery slope BF as we're all a bunch of enablers! Lol.

But for ease of cleaning nothing beats an FRN Spyderco like a Delica or Endura in VG 10 steel or the Native in S35v. I don't recommend the Sage 1 in the photo but lots of other people would.

Sebenzas are fantastic for some people. I love them but don't feel comfortable carrying them around NJ/NYC

Here's a regular Blur in Sandvik, everyone's gotta have some traditionals, I made the mistake of trading this one, it's a Canal Street Cutlery Pinch lockback trapper in 440c and bone linen micarta. I'm about to re-order this one as CSC is going out of business and I want to have one of their knives as a keeper. Lots of folks think the PM2 is next to the Pinch lockback is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It probably is. I have the same problem with it as I do the Sebenza though as I can't carry those around NYC. They're still awesome knives though if you can carry such a large knife in public.

Had to throw in one more this is a Case Copperlock full size, ridiculous amount of blade in such a thin and small package!

I should have noted I only have 150 to spend I'll go ahead and edit it thanks for the suggestions though

I second the spyderco stretch because you mentioned field dressing. It's based off of the original wegner hunter design and is great for everything else you mentioned. It's avail in g10 with zdp-189 at the top end of your budget. Otherwise you can go Vg10 / FRN. Oh and there's also a combo of the 2 with British racing green FRN and zdp-189.

There's nothing presently available that meets that criteria for me.

- 3-3.25" blade
- 1" tall blade
- 1.25" thick blade
- 1/3 - 1/2 Spear point
- 1/2 - 2/3 tall flat grind.
- Slight negative blade angle.
- Non stainless blade, preferably tool steel, + preferably HS tool steel for best combination of edge holding, toughness, edge strength, edge refinement - hardness 61-64, good HT.
- 4-4.25" handle
- Slight banana shape handle to follow curve of palm.
- Full SS liners with G10/micarta/wood, no metal scales.
- Screw together construction with adjustable pivot.
- beefy pivot area with washers, no bearings.
- Opening hole (like spyderco), no thumb stud.
- Beefy liner lock
- Tip down carry

Unfortunately they're extinct.

Good luck.

Buck 301/371 Stockman.
Buy both and a 389 canoe for your budget, and have enough left over for a Number 3 with extra meat meal at Arby's.

Apart from a SAK, the only knife I've ever owned that did everything I needed it to was my BM Grip. did every job I needed it too. I've had other knives that have been within 90% of it, but for me, it just hit the mark.
But in another few months that opinion may change, I've got my eye on a delica, we'll see if it bumps the grip.

For 150.00 you can get 2 Delicas and still have money for beer!!! :D John:thumbup:

Spyderco sage 2, Ti frame lock and flow through design makes cleaning a breeze.

There's probably a hundred of not more choices for you out there. My top choices are
Emerson Horseman(look on the exchange for a cheaper one)
Benchmade Griptillian with aftermarket Micarta scales
Spyderco Delica
ZT 0350
Those all should be within your budget, especially if you look on the Exchange here.

IMO, 3" drop point blade is a good balance for EDC and hunting. After that, it comes down to style.

The Buck 500 can handle everything you describe.
