Hey folks. I'm wondering if you all can recommend any folders (preferably in 3-3.5 inch blade length) that use 154cm steel. I know the benchmade grip and mini grip are popular, just curious if anyone has any others that they favor? Thanks everyone.

I believe the Benchmade 530 also comes in 154cm at just under 100 dollars. Super light too.

Easily one of the most effortless EDC's I ever owned. Great pocket profile, lighter than air... carries like it's made of smoke.

Only nit I can pick is the thumb stud. BM could really do us a favor by replacing that little thumb post jobbie they use.

Well, you can buy the excellent Spyderco Endura or Delica knives for a lot less than 100 bucks and they use VG10, which is similar to 154CM and in the same class. I prefer the VG10 after having owned and used both steels.

That's my biggest issue too. They catch on the lip of my pocket and open the knife.

I know you mentioned the grip already but I'd note they're on sale at blade hq right now

I agree that those thumb studs are horribly out of place on that knife. I've never been crazy about the 530/531. If you like a light knife then it's a great one to pick, but it's just too light for me. I like to have a little bit of weight at least. It's so light that it just feels cheap to me, but that's why they have different options for different people.

The thumb studs are both removable and interchangeable, I believe.

They are also free under Benchmade legendary support. I believe they can assist in finding the right fit stud if it's unclear what works. A deep carrying clip is also available and without charge on request. All provided for the life of the knife. Benchmade can't be beat in this respect and that's a biggie.

Recently, picked up a 300SN, stripped a torx, felt some clips of my other BMs needed some updating (seeing the 2016 line now includes deep carry), sent BM an email and had a bag full of replacement goodies in a few days.

I'm a happy camper.

I like 154cm too, but I wouldn't really let that dictate what knife I bought. For the sub $100 price range I would give the Spyderco Native 5 Lightweight my highest recommendation. But it is S35VN. It is easily my favorite blade material. And the design and fit and finish of the knife is exceptional.
