EDC for college student

I think you made an awesome choice. I've been looking at picking one up myself and now I may have to pull the trigger haha.
I need to get a Leek back in my hands lol.
Congrats on your new knife.

Buckitboy,

As stated before, I agree. That is a very reassuring assessment of your final choice, coming from BladeChick777, who is a true Spydie fan (notice the tattoo avatar!). I'm a big Spyderco fan as well (but lack the tattoo...), so I understand where she's coming from...

Full Disclosure - Yesterday I received a new Manbug (Gray G-10, VG-10) and two different (slip joint & lock blade) double-blade Byrd knives, and I'm looking forward to ordering a new Centofante3. It never stops.

Thanks everyone for your advice and concerns. I didn't start the thread with the idea of getting a Leek so it certainly saved me money. I will also make sure to put one of my multi tools in my backpack for school, (which I should have been doing already).

I will update date this with a review of the knife once I get it and have some time to play with it.

Hey man I saw you already bought a leek, I hope you enjoy it. I'm also a college student and I carried a leek for a while freshman year but found the assisted opening raised some eyebrows. Sometime early in junior year (I'm a senior now) I picked up a g10 dragonfly and I think it's the perfect college knife- its small and not black so no one really thinks of it as a weapon, but it is large enough to be useful for almost every task I throw at it. I also keep my s2 juice stashed in my backpack, which has come in handy on a number of occasions. If you find you get some raised eyebrows with the leek I highly recommend either the g10 or zdp189 dragonfly (basically a model with a handle isn't black, this really seems to make a big difference with sheeple). You can always keep the leek to fiddle with in your dorm/apartment, it's addictive and I do it all the time. If I do carry a slightly larger knife that I worry might freak people out (like my benchmade 530) I throw a ladybug in the bottom of my pocket, it's light and not at all cumbersome and if I need to cut something in a more public place it doesn't really worry anyone. Hope you enjoy the leek and the advice helps!

My kid carries a Skyline wherever he goes..

He was not a knife nut... until he realized how handy have a blade is..

He wants me to upgrade up to something else.. He is digging my spydie manix lightweight.. I might give it to him next semester..
