I currently EDC a Kershaw leek and blur but am looking for a knife I can pocket carry in dress pants. My leek is a good size but slips out of my pockets. I'm looking for a folder with possibly a g10 handle with a 2.75"-3" blade. Considered the spyderco persistence but appears to be somewhat bulky. What are some options or other oppinions? Looking to spend under $50 and would prefer US made.

Maybe a used or blemish Kershaw Skyline?

If you're willing to skimp on the G10, the Ontario Rat 2 would be another good choice for less than 30 bucks.

I normally carry a Benchmade Kulgera with a Stealth Low Rider Pocket Clip. It looks like a pen in my pocket. Another knife I've been thinking about was the Benchmade 531 since it's slightly thinner.

I like the Skyline and am definitely considering that. The Benchmades are great knives but definitely out of my price range as a college student.

I would like to put in a recommendation for a slip joint. You could get a modern style with a pocket clip like spyderco ukpk or a traditional style like a case. Sticking with the locking folders i would second a skyline it is light and very thin but if carrying with the pocket clip it rides kind of high don't know if that matters to you

I have a nice traditional buck knife but it often slips out of my pocket. I like the g10 handles because the don't slip out of my pocket since I don't want to use the pocket clip with dress pants.

You might try browsing through A. G. Russell's site. He does a lot of smaller folders, some w/o pocket clips, that would work well with dress pants. If US made is really important, you'll need to check the country of origin that he lists. A lot of his knives are made in mainland China.

Kershaw Skyline.

Kershawguy.com has 'blackwashed' 1760BW Skylines for $49 shipped. He also has 'blem' 1760's ($29) and 'blem' 1760DAM's ($48), shipped.

Not US made, but I carry a Victorinox Bantam Alox when wearing dress clothes. Its very much a gentleman knife in my opinion, and comes in handy while not standing out.

Whatever you choose a leather pocket slip will help prevent it from slipping out of your pocket.

Not under 50 bucks, but it feels great to have a small sebenza with wood inlay in my pocket. "Yes, as a matter of fact, that is a sebenza in my pocket." :)
Carry it in a small pouch. Fits perfect in the small pocket in the right front pocket of my dress pants.

Life is short. Forget the budget and enjoy owning the best. Chris Reeve Mnandi. Slim, beautiful, useful knife with a formalwear quality clip. It's price is what I consider "investment class", but it's the kind of knife that can be a dress edc for a lifetime. It will be less than $50 per year after only 7 or 8 short years....:)

Welcome to the Forum! I carry a Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight in dress/suit pants regularly, and I highly recommend checking it out. You get a lot of blade in a thin, super light (3 oz!) folder with a solid lock-up, and it's USA-made. Also, the pocket clip looks like a large paper clip, so it's very discreet as well... It's worth the little extra money, IMHO.

Kershaw Chill wouldn't look entirely out of place in dress pants. Not US made, but has g10 scales and won't break the bank. All of what I would normally recommend for dress carry generally falls outside that price range. Maybe try a SOG Twitch II with the wooden scales? Nice little knife and the wood should have good traction and be a bit classier than g10.

I like the Spyderco Manix 2 but I think I'm leaning towards the Skyline since its light and good steal for the money.

If you buy a Spyderco Cat you will love it, but the blade is 2.5". http://www.knifeworks.com/spydercocatc129gp440cbladesteelblackg-10plainedge.aspx#.VKiXbNKUeSo
That wide blade cuts like nobody's business.

The Benchmade Lone Wolf Mini Landslide is a great knife for the price and corrosion resistant, too. http://www.knifeworks.com/search.aspx?find=mini+landslide
This knife has a very stout tip.

A good slipjoint with a blade in your size range would be the Buck Solitaire (not Solo).

I have a black one in my pocket now.

HOWEVER, if you can come up with $5 then buy a SPYDERCO DELICA. They are on sale right now for $54.95 and worth every cent and more. You will have to email me so I can tell you where to get them for that price. Trust me on this one. You will love it.

You mentioned dress slacks and that means lighter weight material than jeans or khaki. The Manix is a BIG knife.
