I second that. I have a 556 and It's excellent. The axis lock is very secure and allows for easy flicking. Easy to sharpen also. The only thing I would warn against is that if he has larger hands, you might want to go for the 551. I have bigger hands and the smaller size of the 556 makes me have to be a bit more careful and reposition my hand a little bit more than usual when flicking it closed. That might just be me though. Top notch value with the 556 overall.
