I carry a Gerber 3.5 inch half-serrated EDC in case I ever need to cut somebody out of a seat belt, or, gods forbid, my wife or I are in a bad wreck. Of course, I whip it out for any cutting job as well, cord or paper. One-handed operation is a must, in case I have a broken arm in said wreck...

My wife never leaves the house without the following on her belt/in her purse. She repairs Dell laptops for a living. :
