I would agree, I think they're trying to say don't sharpen your pencil to sharp. Ambiguity is always the name of the game with law. As far as they are concerned call it a camping tool or an emergency seat-belt cutter.
Example, today I will carry a Leatherman Fuse in my bag, SAK spartan in my pocket, Spyderco Delica in my RFP clipped, and Spyderco Military tucked inside my jean wasteband under my belt by my RBP.
If you decide to carry, but are concerned with people seeing it you should try where I put my Military. You'll have a sense of security and they will stay ignorant to your Emerson.
i really dont need a knife on me in class anyway. so ill just stay clear and leave it in my car...
