I think the real question is "why would you buy a knockoff of an already cheap knife/design?".

I had never seen the Gerber fast draw before, it just happened to be a cheap spring assisted knife that I liked. I guess it's not really a knockoff because it's not trying to be a Gerber knife with logos or anything.

I just got it back with the sheath yesterday, but you're right, I couldn't resist taking a walk outside and playing around with it :). The sheath is perfect. I carry it just left of centerline, horizontal. It's unobtrusive and light enough to be unnoticeable on the belt. The stacked/pancake construction provides for really solid retention.

The knife itself is great. Love the size, thickness, grind (on a knife this size), profile, and the orange is nice and bright. I havent dulled it yet, so can't comment on edge retention or sharpening yet. I love the spearpoint on this one, it's just right. The handle is a bit thin and I know it won't be super comfortable in my hands for prolonged cutting projects, but for the role I intend it to fill (backpacking and fast and light day hiking fixed blade) the compromise is acceptable. It did fine in the little bit of carving and cutting I did yesterday  The Sandvik will make for zero maintenance when out, which I like.

All in all a great package, and I can't wait to get outside with it. I may even EDC it at some point :) How are you liking yours, now that you've had it for a while?

It's definitely a good blade, and as you said, the zero maintenance aspect for short durations is a plus. No need to oil it, it keeps it edge very well,... I like hollow grinds in smallish to medium-sized folders for EDC, because they cut so well and this fixed blade is no different. It does just that, plus you don't have to worry about cleaning a pivot.
It's really good at making feathersticks and all, but I usually tend to use it indoors. I find it to be a really good food prep knife, and it might fill that role outdoors as well, but for outdoors I still prefer the BK14. It isn't stainless, but I like the high FFG and the belly on that blade. Imo it's better at doing preps for getting a fire started, it makes great feathersticks too,... So eventhough I think the Skyline might be better at food prep, I'm not going to take two similar sized fixed blades out with me. I'd rather take just one in that size range. So I definitely like it, not just for the price, I like it overall, even if it would be presented at a higher price point. When spring kicks in and the weather starts getting better, I'll take it outside a bit more so my opinion might change. So in short, it's great, but two "meh's": thin in my palm & not enough belly for outdoors.

Do you mind me asking if you hear a click when you open the knife with thumb hole when you first open and close the knife? Mine is making a small clicking sound about 20 degrees out when the axis bar travels to the maximum postion and then starts rolling back as the knife opens up if that makes any sense.
