Years ago, when I used to write knife reviews for magazines, the first thing I did with most of the knives I got sent by manufacturers and retailers, was (rather than trying to cut car doors in half) put them in the kitchen for a couple of weeks. These days, I rarely use any of my folders in my OWN kitchen, (I use my nice Wostenholm kitchen knives

), I only have to do that when I’m travelling or camping - or visiting my sister! However, before Christmas, Pete (Stich2442) very kindly sent me this really nice Peanut, which finally arrived this week. It’s my first Peanut, and I want to try and carry it every day for a while, but I’ve been stuck working today and unable to get out of the house. So I thought I’d use the Peanut to help me make some soup. It might have been a little quicker to use a bigger knife for the larger vegetables, but the Peanut worked well enough, and with the edge Pete had put on it, what a slicer. If Pauli in
Goodefellas had owned a Peanut, maybe he wouldn’t have needed to use a razor-blade for his garlic! Thanks again Pete, I’m enjoying the Peanut – and my soup!
I did try and take a final pic with the Peanut balanced on the edge of the soup bowl, but as I only thought of this after pouring the soup into a narrow rimmed bowl, the Peanut ended up IN the soup! Tasty!

And I guess we can all do with a little extra iron in our diets
